Carling Cup and PL ganes, 14th to 20th *SPOILERS*

Damn commentators were an embarassement, Utd basically had a single real shot in the entire first half, yet that tit wouldn't stop talking about Utd dominating the entire half, despite City having 4-5 shots on target, several headers and another dozen plays getting into the box and off target shots. Utd offered nothing in the final third except the goal.

Then Utd only offered real pressure at the very end after Benjani came on and did nothing, and a Sylvinho with entirely no pace anymore came on.

SWP was terrible again today, Barry was ruddy awful, awful passing, awful movement, no support going forwards, terrible positionally going backwards. Yet another game that Ireland would have offered control, defence splitting passes that Bellamy/Tevez would have eaten up and calm when under pressure.

If Mancini learns quickly and drops Petrov, Barry, SWP City have the chance of being a really great offensive team this year. But those three waste a ridiculous amount of posession between them.

How Rooney didn't get booked for a truly embarassingly poor and desparate dive I don't know.

The good thing is, despite all of it, 1-0 puts city out on away goals I believe.
If we get one early, we are more than capable of shutting them out the whole match.

Same. I think it's age with him. He's certainly capable and I can see him making the position his own in years to come.

Do you happen to know what the deal is with O'Shea? He's not played for quite a while.

I'd go for the throat in the second leg.

VdS
Brown - Vidic/Ferd - Evans - Evra
Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Tosic
Rooney - Owen/Berba

I say Vidic/Ferd as I don't know if either will be fit, but i'm assuming at least one will be. If we have both available, play them and put Evans on the bench.

O'Shea has a thigh injury and was reported to be out for at least another two months at the very end of last year.

So March time probably. More likely June knowing things atm.

Also I'd keep Giggs on the wing, I don't care for his pace much so, he is still classy as heck and in places shew that tonight.

That was probably the most shambolic refereeing performance I have ever seen:

-Penalty never a penalty, despite Dean's best efforts to justify it
-Yellow card for the 'foul' by Rafael yet no yellow for Tevez studding Brown in the knee or, even worse, Bellamy raking his studs down Valencia's shin
-Completely inconsistent application of the advantage rule in City's favour
-Dean turning a blind eye to timewasting by City players yet rushing to book VdS at the penalty

And that's just what I can remember off the top of my head! Truly shocking.

It was a penalty, its really simple the first tug back was outside the box, he played advantage as Bellamy was still going, he gave him another little shove just inside the box which had him off balance as he tried to cross/shoot it, penalty.

Rafael even at best and it wasn't a penalty, did a cynical pull back on the player, it wasn't accidental it's a foul and yellow card 95/100 times this year. Bad tackles aren't always yellows and Tevez's wasn't great, but no Utd players acted like it was on purpose, if Tevez got booked for that, he should have gotten about 30 red cards while playing for Utd as he did that to every team he played against for Utd also, swings and roundabouts, though personally I think it was reckless if not on purpose and still a yellow.

Several times City got pulled back, like against Richards when they had a clear advantage, poor refereeing went both ways, like Rooneys pathetic dive not being booked.

VDS came off his line several times and was clearly trying to not time waste, (that also) but for unsportsmanship behaviour, a keeper that does that always gets yellowed, get over it.

The only clear timewasting I remember was Zabaleta kicking the ball a whole 5 yards away, he got booked for it.

To get a penalty, countless free kicks that wernt fouls and to not give them when they were in manu's favour.

also no idea how bellamy didn't get atleast 1 yellow card.

I reckon he would have gotten a yellow for the running into Valencia, if Valencia hadn't reacted, it was a wash, both yellowed or both let off. Not sure what else he did in the game to be honest.

You're not though, are you. Your defense has been weak, and you're up against one of the best attacking sides in the league.

I'm not saying that you won't score 2 goals plus and win, but I can't see you keeping a clean sheet next week.

Oh come on DM, it was a foul outside the box, nothing more, nothing less.

Mike Dean only did it because he had a hard on for Sylvinho - and who wouldn't, what a silver fox he is.

I tell you what did please me tonight, when we had 2 strikers on the pitch and was pouring forward at every opportunity, we looked like Manchester United again.
