Carling Cup Quarter Final Games - **Spoilers**

Im pretty sure Lucas has done has done his medial ligament in (looking at the shape of his leg when it landed). And its not a good sign going off on a stretcher :( he's going to be a massive loss, 1st name on the teamsheet in midfield without a doubt.

Im just annoyed Maxi isnt being given a run of games - we have been producing so many chances in home games, and know doubt he will put some away. Downing is useless - he cannot shoot to save his life what a waste of £20m he will prove to be.

It makes me :( that we blew £55m on crap english talent and let the likes of meireles go

Leeds win 4-0
Newport win 4-0
Cardiff win 2-0
Vokes, Church and King score and 2 assists from Bellamy.

Nice night for remembering Speed.

That's the 3rd time I've seen Chelsea against Liverpool. Not once have I been impressed with their 'excellent' fans.

You went tonight? Must've been the only Chelsea fan there. All I could hear was our supporters

Our rendition of the timeless classic 'Where's your plastic flags' being the highlight :)

It must have started full, i heard Chelsea's only two songs "Never get a job" and "muuurdeerrerrss" at least once each before the 5th min.

Wonder why they all left early? ;)

Also - lol Plastic fans.
RorySmith_Indy: So the two Chelsea fans who were singing 'murderers' on the tube are now chatting up a girl on the bus. "What's your beautiful name?"

RorySmith_Indy: "It begins with an 's'," she replies, patiently. "Charlotte," comes the guess.

Did you watch it on TV per chance? Honestly there was 5-10 mins of great support from Liverpool fans after the 2nd goal but Matthew Harding stand out sung the away stand (of which you had the whole shed as seen in my picture) for the majority of the game. I'm not saying Liverpool fans are terrible, but they are a long shot from anything special. From my experience of football games, it's standard for the away fans to out-sing the home fans.

Because we are ****? Worst state Chelsea have been in a good 5 years. Boas trying to play a new system with the same players. Silly Billy.

It's called 'Sign on' not 'Never get a job'!

I think that says more about Chelsea fans than Liverpool's ;)

I don't think so. I've been to United and Sunderland away. Chelsea fans aren't great but they're not as bad as everyone makes out. It's pretty standard for the home set of fans to have crap support from 1/2 of their own stands.

You'd never know it as a non Chelski fan, the only part audible is the chorus.

Re: Home fans being terrible, you have a point, but you guys are by far the most emotionally dead in the league.
You can't even chant "you only sing when your winning" at you guys .. you just don't

-edit-

Okay, slight exaggeration, Wigan dont count.

Yes we do? Matthew Harding was quite noisy tonight. Did you go? Please tell me you aren't basing your opinion on the television. I hate a majority of the Chelsea chants, they just **** me off. Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea , CHELSEA! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Also, Caaaaaaarefree.....that grinds my gears too.

Also it's the scousers who are inaudiable, you can't even speak ******* English, speak ******* Ennnnnnnnnglish!

Im basing it off being there in the CL every year we played you :p which I imagine would be the pinnacle of sound, surely?
Maybe its improved in the last 2 years, can't attend many aways any more .. expensive, especially those further south, only really make the 'local' games (in the midlands area) and about half the home games =(

And i don't fall into that last category, born there but raised in Birmingham.
Don't even have a Brummy accent .. have a non accent tbh.

Don't know if thats good or bad however :p

It's good you showed your face despite the beating you took :p

There's another Chelsea fan that was confident of a Chelsea win (he was last week too) that's not showed ;)

They both deserve to be starting but the problem they've (well Maxi's) got is that you have to play both of them together imo, which will limit their chances. I don't think you could play Maxi with Kuyt because you'd lack pace and I don't think you could play him with Downing either because you're then lacking somebody that can interchange with the central striker.

I've said before though, I get the impression that the club wouldn't mind Maxi leaving and that may influence the team selection.

edit: Chelsea will probably buy Maxi in January anyway :p

I'm not having a go honestly, but I seem to remember being one of the only people saying Bellamy was actually a brilliant player, and frankly at the moment while good he's not at the peak he was 2 years ago, but he's only just getting a run of top flight games and top flight fitness, though at his age not sure he'll get exactly where he was(as in being almost the sole reason City almost beat Utd a couple seasons ago before Owen stole it in Fergie time).

I remember City fans bemoaning how he's not really that good, I'm sure a few Liverpool fans on here were saying he wasn't good enough for a top 4 club.

He's solid, he puts in more effort than essentially any other player in the league, he's aggressive but rarely in a dangerous way, absolutely quality player and, I can't even remember how much Pool paid, whatever it was, was a steal though ;)

chamack is useless and park none existance :( that was our issue :( we created enough chances to win this match but we couldnt score.

hate Nasri so good to see he was kept at bay tonight. frimpong was immense but chambalin was MOTM for me.

Chamakh was excellent up till he was dropped around xmas last season, this is a guy who has had 10 mins here and there, and sometimes weeks and weeks between even those few minutes. There are a few guys around who are awesome at being a supersub and not playing for weeks/months inbetween, there are plenty of players who are woeful without a run of games.

Its a tad unfair that last season we got more points and more wins with Chamakh in the team in the first half of the season, was arbitrarily dropped and hasn't got any form 11 months later, then call him crap?

Park hasn't shown anything since day one though, someone can be great in a crap and very weak league, Park has looked massively out of his depth at any level for Arsenal so far.

Chamberlain looks quality to be honest, he looks like Walcott, if Walcott wasn't such a ***** frankly, Walcott not scared to get tackled, tackle, or use his shoulder to barge someone out of the way, and frankly just better technical ability all around, uses his pace far more effectively. Sure Walcott lately has taken to kicking it behind slow left backs and running after it, he's still scared stiff to do it against someone who will be shoulder to shoulder going after it, AOC isn't.

Oh and what is the point of Nasri? Really? I'm not surprised, he's playing just like I thought he would, but he's even impressing me just how like Adam Johnson he is. Occasional moments of flare padded out by lots of disappearing acts and generally being ineffective.

Oh, Dzeko was immense. Wanted to win it all on his own ALL Game, pretty much eventually did, well in lad.

Yup, the reason I bashed Nasri mercilessly is, he'll only look good(mostly) against crap teams, he'll disappear, he's not someone to rely on, he's never in a million years worth over 15mil, he's not prolific in scoring or assisting and he's not good enough for Arsenal, let alone a City team going for everything.

He's good on his day, most players are, he's inconsistent, lazy, petulant and no where near as good as he thinks.

though at his age not sure he'll get exactly where he was(as in being almost the sole reason City almost beat Utd a couple seasons ago before Owen stole it in Fergie time)

For the record he may of been the sole reason City got a point that day but they were never in a position to actually win the game.

On Bellamy though he's certainly showing signs of the form he had 2 seasons ago, it's somewhat surprising he didn't tear the championship apart last season... I would say it's probably due to his heart not really being in it during his spell at Cardiff but I would think that's obviously considering prior to leaving Cardiff he went on TV saying he wouldn't leave them until they were in the Premiership.... that was a few months before proceeding to leave them and sign for Liverpool :o

City fans wont give him the credit but Mark Hughes should take a lot of credit for Bellamy's up turn in form, pretty sure it was under Hughes that Bellamy worked wonders for Blackburn also

I don't think anybody (I certainly haven't) has said Bellamy isn't a decent player DM. I'm not sure he's a brilliant player though. He's a decent player to have in the squad and a player that's perfectly suited to games like todays. Because of his knee problems it's going to be difficult for him to play regular football anyway.

As for how much we paid for him, do you mean this time around or the first time we signed him? We got him on a free this summer and paid £6m for him in '06; and I'm certain that had we not needed to sell him to fund the Torres deal, we'd have kept him.
