READING & LEEDS
SEEK LARGER
CAPACITIES

With tickets selling out in record time for this summer's festivals, organisers Mean Fiddler are seeking to increase the audience capacity for both sites.

Speaking today (4th April) on BBC Radio 1, Mean Fiddler Festival Director, Melvin Benn, claimed that he was confident he would be granted permission to increase the capacity of both sites and hopes to have news on the Leeds site by the end of April and the Reading site by mid May.

Those still keen to obtain tickets for either event are requested to subscribe to our meanfiddler.com backstage area, where, as of tomorrow afternoon (5th April) from midday, members will be able to register for the prospective tickets. Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

When you compare that lineup to how it was about 5 years ago it's sickening. Paying £35 quid more than back then for a fraction of the quality!

I suppose it's all about music tastes. I love most of the bands in the line up and I'm looking foward to a lot of the smaller bands that are confirming. Saturday will be the day for me. Muse are spectacular live and both the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Streets will be a riot.

Last year I spent most of my time "relaxing" anyway

Edit: I think a reading meet-up thread will be a good idea concidering many people don't have anyone to go with after the lack of tickets. I really need to find out if any of my friends got a ticket.

Just what happens over time I guess, they'll always try and appeal to the majority by booking whoever's currentlu 'in', and as you get over it's inevitable you lose touch a little.

Reading's pretty line-up independant I find anyway, the atmosphere will be the same, great one. Hell, you never have to look hard for people who buy tickets and barely, if ever go in the arena.

Ah the Sunday night chaos. Terrifying, and majestic at the same time.

Could not be said better.

As the trollies roll past armored up with metal grating, off to battle accoss the plains, the fires rage and penetrate the night sky. I look to a friend, who is up a tree after drinking one to many cups of mushroom tea and say....

"I Love the smell of burning tents on a Monday morning"

Looking foward to Thursday (wednesday if I can be bothered to get an early pass) night. We tend to hunt out the just turned 16's and see if we can nick their beers. They are so desperate to fit in and all you have to do is pretend that you have something they can take and they treat you like gods.

They are the first tents to go

Edit: I'll see if I can blag some Jack Daniels this year. I always intend to add it to coke and take it into the arena but always use it up.

I got an early permit and a green parking ticket. Is this enough for me to park there then queue for a weekend ticket on the Wednesday (Assuming I don't get one beforehand)?
Sorry to bring this up but no one replied and I'd really like to know. If not I may be able to borrow a weekend ticket from a mate so I can at least park, then queue for a ticket.

Reading Festival is so popular these days! It's unbelievable!

The first year I went (1997), the tickets were £65/70. My ticket was purchased by my mum from the local high street HMV shop literally the day before the event started! There was minimal corporate advertising, fewer people and less of an oppressive atmosphere from the organisers…

Has Reading diversified or simply sold out? It was something purely for the great unwashed in the past.

What do you mean?

SaBBz - I'm honestly not sure. Cant remember what tickets I had to produce on Wednesday last year.

Anyone know if you can buy early entry tickets on the day, I don't normally come untill the Thursday but I might try and blag my way in on the Wednesday.

For the onsite car park it was Weekend ticket + Wednesday ticket. This year I'm not sure though as parking is off site supposedly. Hopefully the parking will be onsite for Wednesday goers though :)
