Anyone know if you can buy early entry tickets on the day, I don't normally come untill the Thursday but I might try and blag my way in on the Wednesday.
Yes you can. They were on sale on seetickets a few hours ago too, but aren't anymore.

Erm, I'm not so sure. There's no box office open at least, so where would you get them?
Legally they have to hold tickets back to sell on the door. There's been a box office right by the main entrace every year I've been.

I gave in to the pressure of my mates and ordered a ticket last night :D
Why were you all worrying bout tickets? I ordered one easily... A day after they apparantly sold out :confused:
Got confirmation e-mail and everything...

I only wanna see audioslave and pearl jam... Rest of the lineup is a bit of a joke... They had hatebreed last year, so hopefully someone along those lines would be announced...

And about the riots... I expect them to be controlled very well this year... Since last year they seemed to be surprised... And the 'police' were mental... Some guy stole a crate of beer and ran to his tent... Cue 5 'police' folk jumping on the tent and battoning it up... Mental...

Who's rumoured now anyways? I see less than jake self confirmed... I want some metal :(

But it's not open on the Wednesday.

In what way are they oppressing?

I think he means the security that went round last year searching for drugs and stuff. On of them even went through my mate's wallet, which I didn't think you're allowed to do :confused:

Also the fact that you cant take bottles of water or food into the main section.

I went to Leeds for the first time 4 years ago (the last one at temple Newsam) and you could take plastic bottles and sandwiches and stuff into the main arena.

Apart from this its still a damn good laugh and hasn't put me off going for the past 4 years :)

Your not unless you are the police and you have resonable suspicion that the person is carrying.

It's also illegal to hold someone unless you have evidence of a crime.

My mates were brinking it last year when they started checking the bottom of sleeping bags.

It definately was last year mate.

Just went on nme.com and got 5 tickets for me and mates. They're sold out again now though. I got an email confirmation etc though so I'm well pleased :D

Well, I didnt see it. But then, we did go straight into the car park, and then yellow camp. Didnt come out for some hours after that (pitching up, fetching the stuff birds brought along from the cars :rolleyes: )

Although they cant 'force' you to show them whats in your wallet or hold you, they can kick you out of the festival if you dont. Its just like bouncers can search you before letting you into a club.

I'm certain it was because my gf was standing in the queue for about 4 hours in the rain whilst I was putting up about 10 tents with a couple of mates. Most of my mates didn't get tickets beforehand so had to wait in the queue, infact my gf did have one but she was waiting to get one (using the wristband herself and giving her ticket to the other person) for someone who was turning up on the Thursday. So pleased I finally got one thouhg :)

Found a good festival checklist over at efestivals. Pretty much all you need in my opinion:

Essentials

* Ticket

This one is fairly obvious…
* Friends

Or at least people you can leech beer off…
* Tent

Assuming you want to sleep, this is quite important
* Sleeping Bag

If it’s warm then a big blanket will do, but if it’s cold you’ll be glad you brought it!
* Large quantities Alcohol / Drugs

Assuming you’re in to that kind of thing. Always over-estimate what you’ll need, we did by quite a lot and still had to buy a crate on the last day
* Non Alcoholic Beverages

There is nothing nicer than a can of coke on the Monday morning after five days of drinking and dehydration..
* Money

Despite our magnificent and well thought out check list you WILL forget and need to buy SOMETHING at Reding
* Food

That or just double the money you bring, the food stalls are quite pricey.
* Mobile Phone

Handy to find people among the 50,000 or so..
* Condoms

Keets says: Lots Of Dirt Ridden People STD’s All Over The Place, Be Safe Kids! And Even If You Don’t Plan To Score, Look Out For Your Mates.
* Clothes

but not too many, but at least one dry spare for if it rains etc.
* Suntan

so you don’t BUURNN
* Wet Wipes

Newcomers laugh at this, I did, but these things are ESSENTIAL. They beat having a shower, anyway.
* A Torch

Because night is dark!
* Tooth Brush / Mouthwash

Because Listerine is the ultimate drymouth cure
* Deodorant

because you will (no matter what) stink by the end
* Toilet Roll

The toilets don’t have any

Essentials for those who intend to cook

* Cutlery

To eat with
* Tin Opener

For Tins!
* A Lighter / Matches

To light fags, camp stoves, etc. And they sell out at the supermarket FAST.
* Camping Stove

to cook with!
* Pots and Pans

to cook in!
* Food

to cook! I recommend Full English in-a-tin and Beans
* Batteries

For anything electrical

Luxuries

* Music

Depending on what you plan on doing Music is pretty nice to have in your tent
* Guitar

There is no situation where a guitar isn’t useful!
* Medication

Paracetomal, Ibuprofen, Painkillers, Pro Plus. Although Beer is well known beat all of these hands down ohmy.gif
* Cigarettes

These can be used for bargaining, apparently..
* Batteries

For anything electrical
* Sunglasses

Pretty obvious
* Hat

Again, Pretty obvious!
* Chair

Just shell out the money, it beats sitting on the floor
* Sleeping Mat

only for sensitive sleepers, really
* Carrying Device

We saw wheel barrows and sledges, we wished we had them. If you are bringing a lot you will be carrying it a long way, just bear that in mind..

Wastes of Time

* Skateboards

on MUD? You fool!
* Weapons

Seriously, don’t bother. You will be safer not bringing these things.
* An Up-Your-Own-Arse-Attitude

Anyone want to add to the list ?

P.S Any chance a passing mod can make this the official Reading/festivals thread?
