Carling Weekend/Reading/Leeds

Is it just me who's looking forward to the lineup and the event? Franz may not be classic headliners but at least I can name a handful of their songs, unlike AudioSlave which half the internet says should replace them

You can't headline on obscurity.

other than the fact that most of the band were in Rage Against The Machine? its worth it for Tom Morello alone..

I got tickets and I'm pretty happy with the line up. The music is only half the festival, for me anyhow.

Was better last year than it was the year before I can tell ya. Hoping we're on an upward trend ;)

Last year was amazing...

Somehow I managed to forget to get tickets for this year :(

Can't beat the distant booms of gas canisters on a sunday night and trolley wars is intense :D

Nearly got blown up walking around wasted and there was a fire on the road, we walked near it and people started shouting at us. We were going "woah it's ****** cool here. No probs guys, all good" etc. Got a few metres away. BOOM!

My mates in their band (The ones playing download unsigned tent thing) got their manager guy to get them free tickets for Reading as he knows an organiser :/ He won't give them to non band members though :(

Still no Maiden and Pixies like last year :)

Pixies were atrocious..

Maiden were amazing, even though I don't like them.. Can't beat huge zombie things and flames etc :D

Foo Fighters were stunning and those green lasers were pretty intense.

Also Goldie Lookin' Chain were hilarious and Sister was sung everywhere I swear.

Did anyone see million dead in the lock up tent? They put on a great show.

Oh you got that right. One of the first times they'd sung it live I believe (the second album wasn't out at the time), and it had absolutely everyone in stitches... was great.

GLC at Reading were the first group id ever seen live and what a start they were great especially with the mobility scooters :p

And soundgarden you crazy fool!

Also, is there meant to be an announcement tonight?

Not expecting anything. Bit too soon for more lineup stuff you'd have thought, if there is anything I guess it could be about the 'extra' tickets.

Awesome :D I was waiting for something heavy to be announced!

I can't see their crowd being huge though... The majority of the festival will be scene kids who will be scared to death ahaha...
MCR are on before them so it'll be interesting to see them lot get stuck in slayer pits :p

Also, the special guests are after slayer, so I recon it'll be something metal as ****.

Woooo I cannot wait!

There's actually a few decent bands in the line-up now. I'm pretty surprised!

Nice to see NME know who "Mastadon" are  Idiots.

I might well go on Sunday for Slayer and Mastodon. Only thing being it looks like Mastodon will be on very early, which is just crap. Other than that I'd wanna see: Wolfmother, BSS, Plan B, Dresden Dolls and Forward Russia. That's about it really.

Carzy, have you not listened to '10,000 Days' yet? I thought you'd have posted by now ;)
