I guess I'm on my own with most England 'A' team players that would rather have Beckham in the team than Lennon.

For ***** sake, Lennon's only a kid. He's a good looking player, but don't rely on the guy - sounds like you're all getting as carried away as the UK press! ;)
Personally I would choose SWP, Havent really seen Lennon in action.
But from what I have heard he is beter suited to the role beckham is playing tonight than Beckham himself

Its this comment that isn't making any sense.

In my formation you have 3 actual central midfielders and you have 2 wingers. This would be a better offensive AND defensive midfield than yours with your 3 players who play in the centre when defending and spread out to the wings when attacking :/

I think you've just played too much Champ Man and want to put arrows on Beckham and Cole pointing to the wings :p

Lol ! Something like that.

I'd barely call Beckham a winger, he spends most of the game drifting in, so why not let him start in the middle (cole also drifts in) but make them drift out.

Hard to explain but you know, trying !

Carra has done well so far really

carra is ok but his distribution isnt good enough, he doesn't doggedly chase the ball down either ...... Hungary wont test as much as stronger teams in the world cup

but then surely the other side of the coin is that, you won't see what happens under a test, till a test comes his way surely ? Unless he's thrown into a big game against great players, you won't see how he reacts

Dont see carra in the holding role tbh, he is good at centre half, reads the game very well which does make up for his lack of pace, if you play him at def mid, then he will do a job much like did hamann did for us over the last couple of years.

King doesnt cut it for me either, he was found out against the argies big time. And if you are gonna play carrick in def mid role, id rather put becks there, the are both abou tthe same defensively ie cant tackle but can spray the ball about nicely. we need some pace in the side so bring in lennon, owen hasnt used his pace since he got his second hamstring, J.cole aint particularly quick which just leaves A cole with some decent pace in the side,in todays game you need more than that, which is why i think Sven has taken Walcott.

So for me back 4 is as is, becks in the holding role, then a 3 of cole left, lamps centre, lennon right, gerarrd roaming, and owen upfront. Its a pity we dont have a batty/ince character anymore in the EPL.

I dont really think you can drop becks, his delivery is just so much more superior to anybody else in the game, lamps and stevie are good, but not as good as becks, plus you never drop your captain, nor can you drop owen cos he does have that proven track record.

I agree with most of what you have said above, though I really can't see how we can play Owen upfront as the lone striker, if we are going for the lone striker role, it has to be Crouch.

Carra did well tonight, though I agree he isn't the answer. Shame Parker isn't fit.

The thing with Beckham is, you need him. He's the best passer and crosser of the ball we have. He's been Madrids best player all season and is peaking at the right time.

The fact he set up 2 goals tonight proves how dangerous he is. For me, you can't drop him. I wouldn't make him captain, but if all the players are happy with it (and they seem to be) then we don't need to change him.
