Champions League Spoilers 28th/29th

thought arsenal had a shakey start but as the game went on, they grow in confidence and played really well. Fully deserved the victory! Do we even need a 2nd leg? :)

Cant agree with you about the shaky start? I was nervous at the beginning of the game but they had the game by the scruff all the way through and they took Juve to school. I hope Ronaldhino and co watch the tape tonight.

Great game that, fantastic job done by Arsenal :)

The commentary said Toure only made his prem debut 6 weeks ago,is that right? He was outstanding tonight, looked like he'd been there for years

Arsenal has played fantastic football with fluent short pass, seems like 5 -a-side football when they were attacking Juve. They hold the ball quite well. It is a totally different performance compared theirs in Premiership. Only a little bit shame is no English player is on the pitch even they are the only English team in the competition. I hope Ashley and Sol will come back to the squad very soon.

I think he is saying Arsenal can win it and convincing the bookies thus lowering the odds...
But if 16/1 was a good bet at the start of the season then he should've taken it, right?

The way he wrote it makes no sense unless Arsenal are at longer odds than 16/1 atm. Something I can't see, though I haven't checked.

I wouldnt celebrate yet guys/gals.
While Zebina & Camoranesi were sent off, and Viera misses the 2nd leg, you forget that Blasi can more than fill in for Zebina. Nedved for Viera & Del Piero for Camoranesi.

So, it'll be 11 vs 11 again - big deal :)
I think people are being optimistic more on the basis of Arsenal's current form and the 2-0 lead rather than the suspensions Juve will have in the second leg. A single goal for Arsenal in the 2nd leg will see Juventus needing 4 goals, which I can't see them getting against the best defence in the CL (7 clean sheets in a row, only 2 goals conceded all season).

Don't forget that Arsenal's squad should be much stronger for the secondleg too, with Cole, Ljungberg and Campbell available for selection in theory - going from 8th-choice ;) to 1st-choice leftback should make a difference.

Absolutely fantastic. It's just so damn refreshing to see us not only do well in Europe, but embarass two of the best teams in the world while we're there :D. Here's hoping we can nick an early goal in Turin, and I'll be a very happy man.

Toure = Complete and utter star, one of the best defenders in the world, and only 25!
Pires = I don't think I've ever seen Bobby commit to a tackle, let alone to Vieira of all people, fantastic.
Reyes = Qualty, but I think he's still yet to unlock the full potential he has. Never quite links-up perfectly with Henry, and has never gotten the goals flowing.
Flamini = Has possibly saved his career with the performances he's put in at LB. Not that I think Wenger was planning on shipping him off, but I don't think he was ever quite seen as more than a bit-part player. On the kind of form he's had there I'd love to see him start a few games at DM when Ash/Clichy get back.
Hleb = He seems to play like he has the ball constantly stuck to his feet. Which means he gets past players really well, but then never attempts to shoot unless absolutely pressured to, or just sort of thrashes about and misses what could be a killer pass. Still, I think he's got the potential to be great, and he adds a different style of play to Pires and Freddie.
Henry, Fabregas, Eboue, Phil, Lehmann = Ace, the lot of them.

why doesnt gilberto get the same respect as makelele i think he plays just as good as him in that holding midfield role
Because unfortunately, for ever fantastic performance he puts in against Juve or Real, he'll have 3 or 4 absolutely poor games in the Prem. For a big guy he just doesn't seem to have the muscle these days to stand up to the likes of Bolton or Chelsea or ManU.

Still, I feel like I've complained faaar too much, considering we've just won. Get in! :D

What a stunning performance we put in, that has to be one of the all time great Arsenal performances. We were just superb from the first minute and to make a team like Juve look like complete mugs is no small feat. But only half time and we gotta keep it going. After the crap we have been through this season it has all been worth it if we keep playing like this in the CL. I would post a longer worded post but I really am lost for words right now.

I think this comments sums it up pretty well by Wenger

"When Robert is making sliding tackles, you know you have a chance."

:D
