tbh its a shame you lot went out really. i mean we only have one british club left in it...

Oh don't start being nice to me now :p

I'm in a rotten mood now, fell down a muddy bank before and landed in a big muddy puddle while the dog attempted to make off down the field with me still attached to her via her lead. Entertaining, nay, funny for onlookers, crap for me.

Bit like that match tbh.

Don't get on Rafa's back, we have no money thats why we got Fowler and not owen.

lol.. im not getting on anyones back, i dont care being a newcastle fan ...

but you havnt spent well at all up front... yeh you could say we havent by spending 17m on owen, but if he had been playing most weeks the goals would have been racked up by now.

owen could have won the champs league for you again

Oh come on, we've spent a fortune. Just not wisely.
Not at all, how much after sales have we spent? Cisse was a Houllier signing, Crouch has been a good buy even if he hasn't scored 20+, and how many people thourght Morientes was a bad buy when we made it? Only thing i can say is that he shouldnt persist with Morientes.

Does anyone else not think Crouch is painfully thin, especially for a professional footballer and someone who stands 6ft6 tall? Tis shocking. He could ask Robbie for some tips to gain some weight.

Not denying I thought the purchases were good and given time something has to happen. We can't cry poverty though not when you've got 'The Paupers club' just down the road playing with a couple of ex-cons from Walton prison (Mr Ferguson, you know who you are) and some scruffy looking lads they seem to have picked up from Stanley Park ;)

Well done Arsenal

We got what we deserved, hell i'd rather see Heskey start than Cisse,Moro or Crouch -and i don't care what else Crouch brings to the squad,he's no goalscorer

Excellent result for Arsenal. I was rooting for them.
How did Lehman do? Did he do as bad as Kahn tonight? :p

4-1 win.
A penalty miss from Sheva, followed by Kahn running across and shouting in his face (If Kahn wasnt a keeper he would have got a yellow for that). 1m30secs later, Sheva scores. Shows character.
2 for Inzaghi. He's done excellent lately.
Kaka played amazing.
Kaladze played amazing.
Seedorf played amazing (in the 2nd half).

Bayern played awful. At the back they were a joke. In the midfield they were getting in unnessessary scraps. They made so many school boy errors even i was embarassed for them!

Bring on the next round!

:D

I have to say, at no point this season did I think we'd be the last English team left in Europe, and yet here we are, 5th in the league, underperforming all season, QFs of the CL. Excellent :D.

Pity Pires couldn't get enough power to reach the open goal at the end, that would have summed it all up nicely. Other than the last half-hour where Real finally seemed to realise they might go out, and so threw everything at us, did we not look like the better team. We deserved to go through, the whole team were stars yet again tonight, and I'm chuffed to bits.

Not looking forward to the QF draw though. Barca, AC, Juve, or "we like to beat English teams" Benfica? No thanks.

Unlucky 'pool.

Like ive said, Rafa has spent £14m on strikers (over the course of 2 seasons) and we have sold Baros and Owen for a total of £15m. With the money he had available he hasnt spent poorly. Crouch has made us a better team and as for Morientes, i cant think of a Liverpool fan who said at the time that he was a bad buy. Its easy to look back now and say Morientes was a bad buy, but at the time £6.5m on a proven quality striker looked a good deal, especially when you consider Everton spent £6m on Beattie around the same time
