Champions League Spoilers 7th/8th March

Clearly Benitez needs to rethink his tactics. If he plays Nando and Crouch week in, week out when they are NOT performing - what the hell do they have to prove? He should be leaving them out and rotating - making the strikers score to get a place on the first team. Not just wheeling them out week after week after week to try and prove he made the right decision in buying them. They should be fighting for their places like Taggart used to make his strikers!

Edit: And when he did finally relent and play Cisse on Saturday, he was better than a barrel of Nandos!

I would agree but Morientes has proved he isn't the striker he once was so why is he still being played week in week out? I think it's because Benitez doesn't want to admit that another one of his Spanish buys has flopped. We got what we deserved and I'm beginning to think that we might not qualify for next years competition. I'm sick and fed up of confidence being used as an excuse for our strikers not scoring. He should drop them both rather than supporting them when they obviously aren't good enough. Crouch has been shocking of late but he won't be dropped because Benitez bought him just like he bought Morientes. It's time he put the team before his own pride and gave Cisse a decent run upfront. I'm livid  Well done Arsenal :)
I did say in an earlier post that i think he shouldnt continue with Morientes, i dont think he is doing it for his pride though, he suits our style of play. Same with Crouch as well. As for Cisse, im sure you weren't saying that after his miss vs Utd and like above Cisse's play goes totally against our tactics (i know it makes no sense after that but i would also like Cisse to play more - looks more of a goal threat)

What a ****ing match and I can't believe it. I didn't think we would make it but somehow our makeshift defence has pulled off a miracle. They threw everything at us but we held on and yet again our lot made my BP rise to unhealthy levels due to their bad finishing.

But who gives a **** we are through :D

Sorry didn't read all of your posts :). I have more patience with Cisse because he hasn't been given the support the others have and I feel sorry for him. I agree with the tactics comment. That's the main reason we didn't sign Owen, IMO, because he wouldn't suit our style of play. We do however need players to fit in to plan B.

How many times has Benitez played Cisse and Fowler as out and out strikers?

It's surely worth a try.
Never, i would like it but it goes completely against our play. You never know he may decide to change it, more likely that he will go with Crouch and one of the 2

Palace turned down £10m for AJ.

Depends how much 'pool have.
Rumours say we have £10 plus sales so £3-4m for Morientes (surely he has to go) may get £7m for Cisse (due to his age), then £3-4 from Traore and Dudek. So around £24m (i hope)
But he wants and needs a RM and if he sells both Cisse and Morientes we will need 2 strikers.

Normally with a spanish manager i would agree but Rafa seems more like a UK manager (ie has common sense). Remember he left Valencia because of the Politics that surrounded the job. He seems an honest man and he said he wants to stay for the rest of his contract and hopefully another 5 years after that.

I'm glad Real Madrid got knocked out tonight, they are really starting to get on my **** .They nick Mercenary Mike off us for a pittance, dump Morientes and Nunez on us,and to cap it all they want to steal our manager .Cheeky gits . :)
