Have you only just signed up for the trial or has it auto billed you at the end of your trial?
Or did you just blindly click through after clicking on the try amazon prime button as you're not always eligible even though the first button mentions a free trial.
Either way just go into your account and cancel it as you've not used it you'll be refunded the full amount.
I like it because:-
1 - it can deliver not only to billing address, i can get it sent to work.
2 - I can time it to delivery on Saturday (big plus)
3 - 99% of the time i gets here next day, if not I get another month free.
4 - Real time stock levels
5 - It has almost everything I want, with the same level of customer service, from green tea to £2k camera
£79 is now a bit expensive and don't really want the streaming service but over the year I would think the saturday delivery alone would cost more than £100.
I do wish they offer the streaming service as an upgrade price with discount if you are a Prime member, as opposed to mandatory.
1. You don't need prime for that
2. If i get sent to work then no need for that either
3. I don't need that fast, 2-3 days in the norm, next day is nice but not vital
4. You don't need prime for that
5. You don't need prime for that
But none of that is guaranteed.
Order something cheap, it is not guaranteed to be there next day. Granted, a lot of the times I wait until Friday to order so I get it Saturday. Ordering something on Friday is not guarantee saturday delivery without Prime.
1 - You are not guaranteed it'll be sent out on Friday
2 - It can go normal post, actually if it goes normal post you are likely to get it Saturday
3 - if it goes courier then it's likely not saturday delivery.
Prime pretty much guarantee saturday delivery.
You also said you only use Amazon when its the cheapest. I use Amazon 99% of the time, sometimes its not the cheapest, because of the CS. Stuff like sending things to my work address instead of billing is a reason for me to use Amazon. Those has nothing to do with being a Prime member as you original post was referring to using Amazon almost as a last resort.
I was referring to his second sentence.
He only choose Amazon, not "only Choose to use Prime".
Not every retailer allows you to send to other addresses, especially for expensive items.
So my reply was both on Amazon and Amazon Prime.

It is a premium price for a premium service. Those that don't mind paying for preferential treatment were happy paying £49 for that service. It is the same process as slipping the barmen a £50 tip for serving you first at the bar but with Amazon you get that year round instead of just one night.
The real question is, are the changes worth the increase in price. Not 'is the service pointless?'.
When it comes to Blu-ray or books for example it'll probably work out cheaper to go to a shop in the long run.
