Changes coming to Amazon Prime

If you have children, you can benefit from Amazon Family (which is free if you have Prime), which gives you 20% off nappies and up to £50 worth of free vouchers a month.

So ive received a 30day trial of Amazon Prime instant video.

I already have Netflix which we hardly watch, is Prime just the streaming version of Lovefilm? Or is it on par with Netflix now?

I still take it once the trial is up id have to pay £80 odd anyway? And have seen people use this Family thing (package?) as our daughter is coming to 3 months now this might be handy!

Anyone else noticed a drop in quality since the move from the Lovefilm app?

Using it on the PS3 and while watching an episode of Vikings the quality was terrible compared to how it was (jerky, noticeable blocks in dark scenes).

Internet connection is fine and Netflix still looks great, was wondering if demand was putting a strain on their servers but then again this is Amazon we are talking about!

The new layout is a bit confusing as well with the mix of free with subscription and paid content.

ok I'm obviously missing something - or its a strange system

I often like before 1pm delivery - as if I order on a Friday it means guaranteed Sat delivery before 1pm (therefore freeing up rest of day) and if I order on another weekday - it means I only have to take a half day off

all great - if you order a load of items 8.99 is very reasonable - price for whole delivery

so I started an amazon prime trial - assuming the uplift for before 1pm delivery was a typo at 4.49 PER ITEM - but no its not - you get free next day delivery (but you have to potentially wait around all day) - but if you want before 1pm its 4.49 per item - so with my order of a load of items was coming to over 35 in delivery

so if I pay amazon 79 a year I have to pay more (if more than 2 items) for next day 1pm than I would if I don't pay amazon a yearly subscription

makes no real sense

have now cancelled my trial (after 10 mins) - and got back my 8.99 total delivery cost for next day 1pm

just seems a bit strange to me ?

HBO! :D.

I'm still annoyed Amazon are not doing the original Prime service, as I thought that was pretty good. HBO being added is interesting, might make me actually use the service.

Really annoying. I ordered the second Hobbit film on instant, then got called in to work just as I started watching it... Next day, exactly the same thing. Now it is going to run out tomorrow, and I have no chance to watch it. I hope they will let me extend it or something. Have to ring them.

The addition of hbo is pretty cool. Instant still isn't very good for prime members but it will improve massively.

Yeah its US only - plus its only old shows (3 years after they air on HBO) and stuff that Sky has rights for -eg The Wire is on demand on sky atm.

Do you guys know you can have 4 other accounts on your prime (just for delivery not video/library).
I sponge of my mate who paid £49 for the year, I chuck him £10 and get next day delivery all year.

I never knew that and my partner has Amazon Prime. Thanks. :)

I didn't know this either.

It says "same household", can they monitor this? I have all my stuff sent to my parents house rather than my flat as someone tends to be at home. Could I add my dad to this? As it's all going to the same place.

I have stuff sent all over the shop through my Amazon prime which is shared with other people, so I don't think they monitor it.

I have a feeling you can take out free trial then cancel at end of the month then sign up again for another free trial, ive not tried it but heard from an Amazon employee its what he does?

Thought I would just update this thread as it seems that Amazon Instant is now working over a 3G connection but only to a device tethered/hotspotted. I can stream to my iPad mini when it is linked to my iPhone but I can't stream to the iPhone itself. This iPad has a SIM slot but I don't use it so can only assume that if I was using it, then it wouldn't stream either.
