Changes coming to Amazon Prime

Protip: Set up a pin for in app purchases if you are using Amazon Instant. Since they've added rentals etc. now it's easy to buy things by accident as there is no confirmation dialogue box.

Will they be merging accounts? Like, I currently have a lovefilm, and also amazon prime... will they stop charging me for my lovefilm as of now?

You pay £79 per month, this is Prime Delivery and Prime Instant Video, your LOVEFiLM subscription drops to £2.99 per month for the DVD rentals. If you don't want DVD rentals then cancel your LOVEFiLM and use Prime Instant (Same as LOVEFiLM streaming).

I use love film and prime, ordered 10 things off Amazon this year so far. As already said, if you use both, you save money. Awesome!

For those who have currently Lovefilm steaming subscription, any idea what the process is if you want to Sign up for Prime?

I.e. do you sign up first, then cancel you Lovefilm payments, or is it cleverer than that.

Have asked Amazon but no reply so far.

I currently pay £5/month to stream (99p monthly loyalty discount) so signing up for prime will give me a discount in the first year (and free prime delivery) and essentially work out £19 extra only for the delivery aspect next year.

Per year

They are way behind Netflix on device support.

They are, but this is also amazon. They know full well it needs to be on as many devices as possible. Amazon is a very good upto date company. Look at audible, kindle which are on pretty much every device. then things like auto-rip.

Amazon instant in America is excellent. So I hope and expect it to mature far faster than Netflix.

Well I've been paying 7.99 a month for lovefilm blu rays for the past year or two, so £96 a year. But now I get streaming for £49 a year, plus £2 a month for blu ray postal, so £73for the year. But I also get free next day delivery from amazon now. Sounds good to me

Do you still have to sign for all packages with prime? I'd be tempted to sign up for this, but I'm rarely at home so it'd bug me if I had to go to the post office to pick stuff up that would've fitted through my postbox.
