I normally compare prices with eBay and Screwfix, or a couple of PC hardware places I use, then buy the cheapest.

Only people like Raymond Lin, who have a boner for the service cost be damned, fail to shop around. Though that said, Amazon are almost invariably the best option.

Pfft, I shop for eBay too.

I just got a watch off there, but it arrived Monday, missed it as I was at work.

Had to pick it up after work tonight at the depot.

If it was Amazon I would have had it when i wanted it, I do shop around, but more often than not, Amazon is cheaper or cheapest as the shipping is free. I bought a guitar strap on eBay last month too because it was £3 cheaper FYI.

But show me a retailer that does a reasonable saturday delivery (Guitar Village wanted £48 for saturday delivery when I asked today).
Show me a retailer that deliver on Monday guaranteed when you order on a Sunday afternoon.
Show me a retailer that deliver on the SAME day in certain parts of the country.
Show me a retailer that does all of the above.

p.s. you can split the cost between 4 other people.

I've just signed up - £49 (then £79) p/a to replace my Netflix account. So in essence, I'm spending £7 more a year and getting next day delivery and Kindle lending into the bargain. Happy days!

I just watched the first season of The Walking Dead. Never did get around to buying the blu-rays for that, so I guess thats a win there. Might watch season two now :)

Watched warm bodies on there last night. Surprisingly good as its got something for everyone. Even the girls like it as its a love story.

Not a huge selection, but that and free next day delivery make it worth while. hopefully they'll expand fast and they'll release apps for the horde off missing devices. As atm not sure its worth the full £79

Streaming features aside, the basis for Amazon Prime is it's "One-Day Delivery" service. Unfortunately for my partner and I, this is seldom accurate. We often find our orders have been delayed mid-transit, or supposedly attempted but not delivered. (Despite someone being present on the specified day.)

Rather predictably, Amazon's support representatives are apologetic, but vague. Usually they offer to extend Amazon Prime at no extra charge. (Which is redundant, because the service is generally sub-par anyway.)

Maybe we're an exception to the rule, but I do find their "Super Saver Delivery" much more consistent. It's not like our residence is inaccessible.

I had a look at this deal which I initially thought was pretty good. I'm have Amazon Prime already so Lovefilm would be a nice addition. It's crap. A mediocre pale imitation of Netflix. Even worse, none of the films or shows are subtitled, a major issue for me. Seeing as nothing is subtitled and Lovefilm/ Amazon have stated on their website that they have no intention to introduce subtitling in the near future, then it's a complete fail from my point of view. How they can get away with this blatant discrimination against deaf and hard of hearing people, I don't know - exemption from broadcasting regulations probably.

Anyways, it looks like I won't be renewing Amazon Prime.

I don't really understand this .

I'm a Lovefilm customer, and use it for physical discs. I'm on the unlimited discs per month product. I think it included some online streaming, but I never really used it.

We're pleased to announce some exciting upgrades and changes to your LOVEFiLM Service.

Introducing Amazon Instant Video

Amazon Instant Video offers two great ways to watch instantly, anywhere. Rent or buy from more than 50,000 digital movies and TV episodes and with Prime Instant Video you get unlimited access to Britain's largest subscription streaming service with over 15,000 movies and TV episodes to choose from.

Your LOVEFiLM Instant subscription is now renamed Amazon Prime Instant Video

Prime Instant Video includes the great movies and TV shows and the same applications for Tablets, TVs and Games Consoles that you've enjoyed with your LOVEFiLM Instant membership. You will also continue to enjoy the same great selection of DVDs and Blu-ray discs with your LOVEFiLM By Post membership.

Good news, we've worked hard behind the scenes to ensure this change is as seamless as possible for you.

• Your Watchlist , DVD Rental List and account settings are all available on Prime Instant Video

•The latest versions of the LOVEFiLM connected TV and mobile applications have already been updated to work with your Prime Instant Video membership

• The amount of your monthly bill will not change

• View your new terms and conditions

Remember, anytime you are prompted to Sign in, use your Amazon account details.

The lovefilm website now redirects to Amazon, with two obvious things to click:
  • Manage LOVEFiLM By Post Membership says: "On 18 March 2014 your card will be charged £4.00"
  • Manage Your Prime Membership says: "On 18 Mar 2014, you'll be charged £5.99 for month of Prime Instant Video."

So that I guess means that my £9.99 per month hasn't changed, but it's now being split up into the discs by post cost separate from the online streaming cost (which I never use!).

So could I cancel the £5.99 Prime Instant Video part of it, and keep the £4.00 LOVEFiLM By Post part?

And if I decide to step up to full Amazon Prime (for free postage etc), that £79/yr would replace the £5.99/pm Prime Instant Video cost? Multiplying out the £5.99 Prime Instant Video by 12 months is £71.88 anyways ... so only £7 less?

I did and it mentions your postal service will not be affected when you do click cancel instant streaming.

paying £4 a month for 2 discs unlimited is a complete bargain , I get time to watch about 2 films a week and nearly all new releases , thats 8 films a month for £4!!!!!

I had 78 deliveries from Amazon in 2013, say a fiver each for next day delivery and that comes to £390!! I pay for Prime and I will renew as £79 a year will still save me money.

I work a variable shift pattern so next day delivery is useful as I can make sure I get an item on one of my days off. I also like the fact that I can order an item on a Saturday and get it delivered on a Sunday when I know someone in the family will definitely be at home.

Excellent, sounds great!

I had this too, I loved having Prime because its been a great service.

But I don't see why I should pay the extra for a service that I won't use, i already have netflix.

So I might cancel it soon, anyone else in the same boat?
