"Just plug it in".
Now that people are starting to take "before" pictures in anticipation of these failures, the user-error hypothesis may become untenable.

From the user who posted this:
"I made 300% sure the cable is properly inserted and no extreme bends. I was even staying near the side panel opened and smelling while doing benchmarks when I got comfortable , this happened..."

His pictures back up his claim of taking the super-duper, extra-special, unprecedented care users have been told to take with these fragile connectors.

But there it is.

was he at 600watts or something running a benchmark really

People should take the card out of the case, plug in the connector as tightly as possible and give it a lookover if there is any gap and while installing to not touch the cable. This only applied to the Nvidia adaptor.

EDIT: He didn't mention whether he heard a click when connecting the cable to the GPU. If there is no click, its not connected. Period.

I’ve never heard a click when connecting the cable to the GPU, not once. It’s pushed in as far as it’ll go. The only click I hear is when I connect the 4x 8 pins to the connector, the I hear a click on each one. I‘ve also found that if you don’t angle the PSU cable correctly, it won’t connect properly. It’s a bad design and I can see why some folk have issue with it. That said, no issues with mine yet - touch wood.

@Twinz I did not hear a click on mine as well which is why I avoided using it as much as possible for demanding games until I got the Cablemod which had an audible click and inserted quite easily. If its not clicking and your card is working fine for weeks, its still a risk over the long term.

There is a click on my FE but it's very quiet compared to an 8-pin. I honestly didn't realise there was a click until I just tested it.
Yes agreed, it's the faintest of clicks but is there if you listen for it, My inno was stiff and I've unplugged it about 5 or so times already to keep checking it as Cablemod has now missed my shipping date completely this week, It was supposed to ship the 10th, It hasn't and neither did it ship yesterday and now the status has changed not showing any date at all.

I wouldn't mind I even ordered the modflex not modmesh as I was told these would ship sooner as more people seem to be ordering modmesh however I heard since they have run out of materials for modmesh so have completely disabled and stopped orders for modmesh and now say they are concentrating on modflex back orders, So much for doing orders in sequence, I don't normally moan too much but as far as I am concerned that's so poor from Cablemod, They have not been doing orders in sequence at all.

If the Seasonic Vertex is available before this cable ships it's getting cancelled, I really don't know how Cablemod run their business or rather how they are still in business personally because there simply is no rush it seems whatsoever.

Sorry for the rant it's just a little frustrating having to wait such a stupid amount of time for a cable especially when they have taking priority for modmesh and only now decided to start making modflex because they ran out of materials for modmesh, No priorities it seems, It does make me wonder why their review ratings are actually so low and poor.
