CHELSEA Manager Ancelotti leaves Chelsea

If its Villas-Boas they have to give him time... But I don't think he would take it. After what's happened to Ancelotti, his mate Jose, I don't think he'd see it as a good move for him, while Roman still thinks trebles can be won in one season or what ever their expectations are.

Joke of a club just like Real. ***** money left, right and centre and expect to win everything regardless of whether the money's well spent or not. Sooner Random Abramovich leaves Chelsea and the Premiership the better.

9 points away? not really

might not be in order but imo these above games were the ones that really didn't help chelsea this season kind of coincidental because it was around the time wilkins left the club

Wilkins to be named suprise manager of Chelsea next season when Guus turns Chelsea down ;)

Errrr....

Did you really just post all that?

Anyway, statement:

Chelsea have sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The announcement was made two hours after Chelsea's final-day 1-0 defeat by Everton, confirming the club's second-place finish in the Premier League.

The 51-year-old had one more year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

A club statement read: "This season's performances have fallen short of expectations and the club feels the time is right to make this change ahead of next season's preparations."

Speculation had been mounting that Ancelotti would be sacked following Chelsea's first season without a trophy in three years.

The west London club missed out on the Premier League title as Manchester United clinched their 19th title last week, further compounded by early exits in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup during the season.

Former manager Avram Grant suffered similar treatment when Chelsea finished second in the domestic table and the Champions League final in 2008.

And ambitious owner Roman Abramovich, who bank-rolled an audacious £50m move for striker Fernando Torres during the January transfer window, will scour home and abroad in search of a successor capable of recapturing the Premier League from Manchester United, as well as the much-coveted Champions League trophy.

"Chelsea's long-term football objectives and ambitions remain unchanged and we will now be concentrating all our efforts on identifying a new manager," read the club statement.

More to follow.

Shame Abramovich wont sack himself. His interfering and the dismissal of Wilkins and it's subsequent destabilizing effect sent the club on a shocking run of results which gifted the title to MU. Hell, United didn't even have to play well to win it.

Then there's the panic signing of Torres in a desperate attempt to win the CL. Torres has looked all at sea so we can assume Ancelloti new as much about it as Mourinho new about the signings of Shevchenko and Ballack.

And there's a rumour about Avram Grant returning to Stamford Bridge in some capacity. I hope for all you Chelsea fans it's janitor.

He looks rough in the picture in the BBC article. I feel a little sorry for him, he did finish 2nd!

Only just though. Nice guy but ultimately not up to the job. Some of his substitutions were baffling and he didn't seem to have a plan B for when things weren't going well. I guess having no real assistant could be part of that or lack of quality players to be able to change tactics.

Not yet. Don't agree with the amount of money they're spending but their owners appear to be bankrolling the side rather than trying to manage it like Abramovich.

I've red that there is talk of a limit on how much teams can spend in the future.

Probably due with the Premier League, this sort of thing already happens with Formula 1.

As a chelsea fan I can honestly say my feelings are mixed. Unless we have a top class manager lined up to replace him, it is a pointless move.

Ancelotti's main problem is that far too many times this season we have come out after a poor first half and played even worse. The board are partially to blame for weakening the squad and so are the players. However, ancelotti has never had a plan b and the fear of dropping out of form players has meant far too many 'untouchables' in the squad have grown comfortable.

Everyone seems to refer to the double, but we just scraped the league and a few decisions here and there could have easily seen UTD win. Our FA cup win was also far from convincing. Anyway the decision has been made, I guess we'll wait and see who comes in next.

Most clubs do this anyway. You did it during Benitez's reign and £35m for Carroll?

Still better get the self righteous comments in before Liverpool no doubt start doing the same. ;)

To be fair though football's a very capitalist game. By and large the club with the biggest pot will at the end of the day have the greatest trophy haul. That's the just the way it is.

Chelsea have dropped a lot this season as well. Abrahmovic's probably getting rid of the manager first before the transfer window starts.
