Ancelotti was exactly that a 'yes' man, most managers would never accept their assistant being sacked. We need someone who isn't afraid to challenge the board.
Hardly a shock, I guess the only surprise is they've chosen to announce it on the same day that the season for Chelsea ended, figured they'd wait a week or so

Unlikely. Apparently there is a 15m Euro release fee clause in his contract so unless Chelsea pay that this summer, they'll have to wait until next summer when the release fee clause drops to something less than 15m Euros. I think 15m Euros is about £13m. So, just how crazy is Roman?

Without wanting to speak for Pigeon, I think you've missed the point.
Paying over the odds on players and what's happening at Chelsea are 2 different things. There's no single plan at Chelsea; you've got the manager trying to do 1 thing and RA trying to do another. RA's answer is simply to throw money at it and hope it works out.
edit: Using the Torres/Carroll examples; Liverpool (Dalglish/Comolli) specifically wanted Carroll with the idea of pairing him with Suarez. Torres on the other hand was signed by RA despite the fact that Chelsea's management didn't want or need him.

This is true what we really need to do is sack the board
If and when RA leaves, you'll be up **** creek.
I half mentioned it at the end of the January transfer window - I wouldn't be surprised if RA drops Chelsea in the next ~3 years.
His actions are getting more and more desperate, with UEFA's ffp regulations coming into play (and Chelsea showing no sign of meeting them) and his obligations to Russia's WC bid, it strikes me as if he's making 1 final push for the CL.
