EDIT: Looking at the Champions League next season I don't think any team is going to be happy facing an English side. 4 very strong teams on their day.
Dont be so confident.
I wouldnt call ManU strong for a start. So theres 3.
And i doubt any of them would want to face any Spanish or Italian teams. Add to that German teams as well. Dutch teams arnt a pushover either.

thats basically what i was trying to say, plus when chelsea play other teams in the premier league, defenders are going to try and put him out of the game purely down to the fact he is a big name player
This is what makes me laugh.
Lots of people think that every foreign import into the prem will struggle because of the prems 'physicality'.
Which i find amusing. As they are basically making a sweeping generalisation over the whole of Europe based upon viewing of just LaLiga.
Sheva will fare fine in the EPL, which isnt any more so, probably less than, physically than the Ukrainain league.
If defenders want to try and take him out, then can try. Many have done before, and all have come off worse.

most over rated player in world football today... he'll never make it in the premiership... he only scores goals in italy against the crap teams... hes usless in the big matches....

the song what a waste of money comes to mind!!!!!!!!!
lol.
Only scores against the bad teams? Go and get your facts right before you comment.
I'd have put it down to sarcasm but the lack of emoticons makes it hard to judge! :p

And whats with the 'allways gets injured' jibe?
He's injured at the moment. And before that, i dont recall him getting injured anymore often than Henry or Eto'o.
Infact, he's more likely to play with injury! He scored 4 in the CL against Fenerbache with an injured ankle.

I would have to agree with Badboy2k3, you can't deny that Chelsea's spending has improved the EPL in terms of the top sides in Europe. As its already been said, Man Utd Arsenal and more so Liverpool have up there games and i really do think that the EPL is the strongest league in Europe. And i don't think you can name a better top 4 in Europe that the EPL's.
Oh and Boom surely its a bit unfair not to clasify ManU as a strong side but include Liverpool and Arsenal; they did finish above both of them (Arsenal by 16 points)

I aint read through most of the replies so if this has been said i apologise but, i hope his reputation doesnt overshadow what he actually does in the PL. Yes hes a fantastic player, and am slightly envious that hes gone to chelski and not man u, but the PL is one of the best leagues in the world and we DO have defenders that can cope with players like him. Even the lesser known defenders will relish playing against him. Not every decent/class striker or any position player at that, that has came to the premiership has set it alight. Only time will tell...

I wouldnt call Real, Barca, Valencia & that wierdly named team a bad top 4.
Nor would i call Juve, Milan, Inter & Fiorentina bad either.

The fact is that all the leagues are all pretty well matched in terms of 'whos better'.

I dont classify ManU as a stong side because how bad they did in Europe.

No-one is saying that the teams in La Liga and Serie A are weak.

This is probably the first time in the modern era the 4 strongest teams have played in England, thats all.

4 strongest teams?
Surely you cant honestly belive that the 4 best teams in Europe are English?
The top teams in Europe technically are Barca, Arsenal, Milan & Villareal.
Although, statistically they are Barca, Chelsea, Juve & Milan.

hopefully shevchenko will be just as much a flop as the rest of the big name players that come from italian football

veron, remember the fuss made over him? pfffft

Great signing for Chelsea and I hope Shevchenko does very well and scores 20+ goals a season.

On a side note I do see Barcelona as the strongest side in Europe

A great signing but he's not going to find it easy in the EPL. Its a lot for a 29 year old (30 in september) who's either at his peak or sledging. Will be good to see him play though.

A question to those who follow italian football closely is he particulary injury prone? From what I can work out from wiki he played 207 games in 7 seasons which about 30 a season. That doesn't seem a lot for a team thats in europe every year. The EPL is going to be somewhat tougher on his body I suspect than serie a.

Yes he has picked up several injuries in the past couple of seasons, yes his performances have not been as good this season.

Why have Milan sold him, he's 29, if they keep him and he doesnt do it for them after signing another big contract, they have blown their wad, Chelsea have no concept of the word "value" and just picked a figure out of thin air and shoved it in Milans faces.

Milan have been grooming Gilardino to take his place anyway.
Thats it in a nutshell.

You misread my intentions.

The Premier league has four teams stronger than any other league.

As I said when it was first mentioned , its a superb piece of business for Milan.

maybe if they replace him with RVN for a third of that price, but I doubt the notorious goal hanger will be as effective in serie A. In any case Milan should win the league next season, if Juve get relegated.

So who do you belive are the 4 strongest teams in Europe then?
Out of curiosity. :)

I personally think.
In no order:
Chelsea - Walked the league. nuff said.
Lyon - As above again.
Barca - As above but also won the CL.
Milan - Because Juve havnt beaten us. They did bad in Europe. We didnt. We lost the league very narrowly. Head to head. We are better than them.

Arsenal instead of Lyon?
Odd one that. Each to their own i suppose.
I can sorta see why, but their cup run doesnt really make up for domestic form imo.
Suprised you agreed with the other 3 tbh. Especially a certain team on that list. :p

To help you out atpbx...:)

But considering his performances havnt been as good as his past ones at that he's been injured: 20+ goals in the league and 9 in the CL, including 4 in one game, is hardly bad.

Why have Milan sold him
He wanted to go. Silvio agreed with Sheva that he should go if he feels its best for his family.

Milan have been grooming Gilardino to take his place anyway.

Exactely.
Gila isnt a bad player in himself. In the league, he's more than a match for Sheva, and with more experiance, will more than do the job in Europe as well.

If its 'just' £24m, then i'd say its bad business. If its over £30m, then i'd agree with you! :p
Now all we need to do is persuade Chelsea to let Gallas go, who has agreed to come to Milan, has agreed personal terms, and is dependant on Chelsea letting him go. Its the least they can do really. Our star player for one of theirs. :p
