why will it be flawed? because they have the money now? so then you saying man u are flawed also because they had the money in the 90s etc...

I think it's to do with the way they have got ther money. All clubs have got money via winning and gate receipts, not via a rich sugar daddy with VERY deep pockets.

my team

---------------------Petr Cech

Asier Del Horno ------------------0---Wayne Bridge

-------------John Terry --- - William Gallas

Joe Cole---------Frank Lampard--------Damien Duff

-------------------Arjen Robben -------

---------sheve ------------------Hernan Crespo

Crespo's off, as is Gallas. Are you then prepared to pay 130k for a bench warmer in Ballack? Bridge? He'll be off, Del Horno at right back??

Mine:

-------------------------Petr Cech

William Gallas---John Terry---Rocardo Carvalho---Wayne Bridge

-----------------------Claude Makelele

-----Arjen Robben------Frank Lampard-------Joe Cole

---------Didier Drogba------------Andre Schevchenko

Can't seem to fit Ballack in :/ Essien wouldn't get in my team anyway.

That'd be my selection too.
Ballack and Essien on the bench @ a mere £12m a season  :D

shevchenko will never leave milan!

very good signing. chelseas team is complete. if they don't win the cl + premiership next season i will be very surprised

This would be my chelsea team:

-----------------------Cech---------------------

Gallas---------Terry------------Carvalho------Del Horno

---------------------Makelele----------------------

-------------Ballack--------------Lampard-------------

--------Cole-------------------------------Robben-----

---------------------Shevchenko-----------------------

But i hope not because I want us to have a chance!

+44

it will be interesting to see how he actually gets on in the premier league, sometimes overseas players come over and they cant handle the premiership mainly because it is a lot more physical, especially if he's been playing in the italian league where someone comes near you and you fall over and get a free kick

not saying he's rubbish just be interesting to see if he will be able to handle being kicked all over the place because im sure defenders will target him

Scary stuff, rest of the Prem can hope all their stars do not gel together as a team!

Shaping up to be an intresting season imo.

I think if we hold onto RVN (or get Torres) and get 2 new CM's in we have got a chance of competing with Chelsea.

EDIT: Looking at the Champions League next season I don't think any team is going to be happy facing an English side. 4 very strong teams on their day.

A great signing but he's not going to find it easy in the EPL. Its a lot for a 29 year old (30 in september) who's either at his peak or sledging. Will be good to see him play though.

A question to those who follow italian football closely is he particulary injury prone? From what I can work out from wiki he played 207 games in 7 seasons which about 30 a season. That doesn't seem a lot for a team thats in europe every year. The EPL is going to be somewhat tougher on his body I suspect than serie a.

thats basically what i was trying to say, plus when chelsea play other teams in the premier league, defenders are going to try and put him out of the game purely down to the fact he is a big name player

Its the way the money has been "earnt" that i have the problem with. Sure Man United brought in top players when they were winning but they earned that money themselves. Dont get me wrong, Chelsea bringing in all these players is good for the premiership and obviously the increased competition has forced many teams to step it up, but to me Chelsea will never have actually deserved the two titles as a club, the players individually maybe.

If the bitterness comment is being aimed at me then so be it, im not bitter because i believe Chelsea can be beaten, they're just a very good side. However, i wouldnt want Romans money at Liverpool.

Im talking about Man United back when they were winning titles and buying big, its not like their recent takeover has given them loads of money either has it. The lottery funding wasnt even anything to do with the club, it was for the fitness of their employees.

Would love to know what Liverpool "scams" you're referring to as well, so whats your point?

*cough* Bit old?
Age of Thierry Henry when offered 4 year contract - 28, 29 in August.
Age of Shevchenko when offered 4 year contract - 29, 30 in September.
Only eleven months between the two.
Lot of money?
I look at it like this - we have got Ballack and Shevchenko for £15m each.
Bargain.
