Chernobyl pics (new)

I remember seeing pics a few years ago from some biker chick with dodgy English (but still miles better than my Russian!).... they were awesome, as are these newer ones.

Some amazing pictures there. Very chilling indeed. It sets my mind into all sorts of confused circles, This country needs to get off it's reliance on fossil fuels for electricity so Nuclear is the economic productive sensible way to go then there's Chernobyl :(

I was living on the edge of the Hohne Ranges in the village of Bergen/Belsen in the then West Germany at the time. We weren't allowed to walk on any grass or soil areas and going through check points around the area meant having radiation level checks on top of the bomb search checks that all military bases did at the time. I can remember BFBS television tracking the Radiation cloud on the weather like they did normal weather patterns, all very surreal.

The photo's in that article at the ammusement park remind me of areas in the game Fallout 3 and something about that game gave me the creeps (even though I love it)

No reactor since then works in the same way, besides Chernobyl was a string of human error's coupled with a inherant flaw in the reactors design that caused the steam explosion.

I know that, but there is always some element of risk no matter how much we plan it out of a system. Chernobyl just reminds me of when it does go wrong how devastating it can be.

It's probably just a recessive subconcious fear of all things nuclear brought about from the 'early warning' drills I had to do at British Forces schools through the seventies and early eighties. Probably the same reason Fallout 3 gives me the creeps :)

Amazing pics, cant imagine how eerie it would be to take the tour, would love to though. So crazy to see somewhere like that completely deserted and relatively untouched for so long.

Would love to visit and properly have a look round inside everything.

Give me a tour guide, radiation suit and a camera and I'd be happy.
Oh and someone to watch out for mutants :(

Thinking about it, isn't it next week that it's the 30th anniversary of 3 Mile Island? The 26th or 27th around then anyway.

**Edit, Yes it is next week, the 28th. I know it's no where near as bad as Chernobyl but it's still a fightening accident.
