Chinese GP 2009 - Race 3/17

SO you could put paper between Toyota, Red Bull and Brawn. Button didnt drive so well in Qualifying. Hamilton did pretty well with that fuel load so Mclaren are on their way up.

Wow, gonna be a short first stint for Alonso!

Brawn's running heaviest of the top 5 so should be in 1st and 2nd by lap 13 or so, gives them 5 laps to get some space.

Pretty good lap from Trulli with that fuel.

Also, Raikkonen and Hamilton are both quite heavy.

Could be an interesting start!!

I'm guessing the McLaren "Wheel in the air" syndrome isn't as bad as everyone thinks:

Kimi not looking so bad now that the weights have been disclosed :-)

EDIT - Timbob the pic you have put up shows what happens when a wheel 'bounces' off an apex not the same thing as what LH's car was showing, which was the wheel off the ground on the tarmac, which was due to real stiff suspension.

Very heavy from Hamilton, raikkonen, be BGP out front after the first stops though, trulli looking strong with that fuel load, will certainly be interesting race, with Alonso no doubt on the softs trying to get a big early lead in. Hopefully be a good race.

How did Hamilton do well hes on similar fuel as Kimi but was 2.8s slower than his Q2 time while Kimi was 1.5s. Consider they have a new diffuser and still KERS which Ferrari dont it really puts into perspective their apparent pace.

To me they havent really moved forward but teams directly around them havent at all, while the main 2009 front runners are still way in front...

This is looking good for brawn again. if they can get of the start line. We've seen what button can do with a few laps. Poor quail from him though.

I didnt mention Raikkonen, he did well too! At any rate Hamilton is on 5.5kgs more than Raikkonen ie 2 more laps, isnt the Ferrari faster than the Mclaren at the moment? (they've just made technical errors of late, hence no points)

Im hoping the Brawn guys get a good start, they havent been the best of late.

I don't think Alonso will be a particularly strong contender through the race. Red Bull are going to want to hare away from that start line because if either of the Brawn cars gets ahead of them they will be stuffed and lose their weight advantage at the beginning.

If either Brawn car gets a good start or opening lap RBR will be in trouble.

I don't know, I initially thought that, but the car looks properly loaded up - not as if it's just landed.

Plus, if you look at the direction the car's travelling round the corner, it's missed the big red kerb, and is in fact hovering over the tall bit of the smaller sawtooth kerb.

Its not so crucial to get a good start here. As long as they dont lose too many places, they will leap frog all the cars ahead of them at the pitstops.

I seriously think that the BrawnGP cars are being underestimated on this forum. I believe that right now, their race pace is comfortably ahead of the rest of the field.

At least in China and Bahrain, I expect the BrawnGP cars to have an advantage such that they could probably qualify in 10th place and still win. I expect them to have the best car when we goto Europe, but their margin of advantage probably won't be what it is now and drivers will higher skill level will probably be able to make up the difference.

Donot be fooled by the fact that BrawnGP are not on the front row. They ARE fast.
