Chinese Grand Prix 2010, Shanghai - Race 4/19

That seems a bit mean? Afterall nobody here threatens to remind you of all the bad predictions you make? :p

Um.....I do, actually :D

And made good on my threat at the end of last season regarding his posts about "Journeyman" Button. Not that it seemed to have any effect on him, mind.....

Bear in mind with the Ferrari engines they are running at hot locations. They were OK at a cool Australia so chances are things will improve for them in Europe.

Still, there's enough hot races left on the calendar...

Not particularly hot in China this weekend though, 16C at best!

But if they don't like the heat then running it at Bahrain and noticing a fault, removing the engine as a precaution and running it again at China to find it blows up suggests the damage was already done, no?

How effective is it using detuned engines for practice sessions and extrapolating the data for that lost % of detuning - does stability etc not get affected at all even though some parts of the car (not directly attached to the engine) will work harder with an properly tuned power plant?

I just found it interesting that McLaren have only used the Bahrain engine there, and havent as yet re-used it in FP at any point later on, even though they used their 2nd engine for both latter full weekends (I know on average everyone needs to use an engine for two quali's and two races + a bit to get through a season without grid penalties, I would still be tempted to use a used engine "up" as quickly as possible in the following FP's unless Im missing sometihing)

Anyone got any info on the F-ducts everyone was trying out.

Apparently MS had one on his car, although no-one appears to know where the intake was! Alonso had one with an intake in the engine cover but they have said they wont be using the system this weekend. Have Renault got one? Also what were the straight line speeds for the different Teams today?

The one they ran in FP1 today, albeit briefly, was swapped out of the car in Bahrain after Qualifying due to 'precautionary concerns'

The one used in FP2 today, was the one used in the Bahrain race - seems like they were right in Bahrain.

So, given that the one used in Malaysia was a new engine for that race and went foom. I believe he also had a new engine for Australia.

It looks like that Alonso has has 4 different engines in the car already - 2 are destroyed and 2 are part used. So, if you say that the 2 part used have already done race distances, it looks like all his remaining engines will be doing a minimum of 3 race distances, plus qualifying and the free practice sessions.

Anyone wondering if Ferrari will be turning the revs down wherever possible now?

Ferrari are already running reduced revs due to the engines drinking problem. The 'overtake' button Massa was told to use in the last race is just a quick way of allowing fulls revs to be briefly used.

Those classic races on Red Button were great - the amount they were bouncing about at Buenos Aires in 1980 was incredible, and the way the track was falling to bits - the infield section may as well have been gravel. I'd forgotton how bad that track got.
