Chinese Grand Prix 2011, Shanghai International Circuit - Race 3/19

amazing how people are saying that button takes points away from his team mate, but are generally the same people who time and again point out that button is nowhere near as good as lewis, lewis is sooo much faster.. if this is the case, why is he doing so well? or should they knobble buttons car this year, just so that lewis can get ahead of him and then everyone can say "see? told you button was slower".. fact is, button is as good as lewis, they just have different driving styles. and this early on, small mistakes and conditions, have played more into buttons hands..

While it would be unwise to write button off, especially given questions over the current tyres, it's certainly a minority opinion that Button is as good as Hamilton. I'd say that relatively few people would agree with that "fact" as you put it. As for knobbling Button's car no that is quite ridiculous and no one wants to see that, but the fact remains that having a No1/No2 driver line-up is the best way to go about getting a WDC. having 2 good competing drivers like Button and Hamilton is good for the WCC but not so much for the WDC.

I'm not sure, if button is finishing near the front he may be taking points from his teammate, but he's also taking points from other teams. .

You misunderstand what I meant, if Button is coming second to Vettel and hamilton is comind lower down then Button isn't taking points from Vettel. Then the next week Hamilton beats button but comes runner up to vettel.

That's helping Vettel to get an even bigger lead.

Well as I'm the only one who said it you must mean me, when you say 'people'.

I've certainly never said "Button is nowhere near as good as Lewis"

Over a single flying lap I think Hamilton would beat Button 9 times out of 10.

However Button has a much more calm head on him and is able to size up his opponents and determine the when is the best time to pass, and when is the best time to conserve fuel or his tyres and then attack later. Because of this, I think their clear-air race pace is very similar. Button only loses out at the end of a race because he's 1 or 2 places back from LH in qualifying and gets caught in traffic during the GP.

2011 of course...Alonso and Ferrari will rule all this year.
RBR are shaking in their boots as they know what is about to happen. Last year they got lucky and they know it :p

In fact, I heard on the grapevine that Nuts got so worried, he could no longer bare to look at this forum any more, as he knew about the pounding that Ferrari were about to dish out... ;)

A bad day is a bad day any way you write it. On a good day though having a competitive team mate will take more points from RBR by pushing them down to 3rd or worse.

Alonso wants to be number 1, but he'd sure as hell like to see his number 2 covering his back not half way down the field.

Keep it up and he'll be allowed to post - fantasy forums are allowed :p

This is no fantasy...Alonso and Ferrari will win this year's title.

Apparently Ferrari have taken sandbagging to a whole knew level. They have started sandbagging in the races themselves, to give this year's title race some excitement. From what I hear, they've allowed Vettel to get 50 points on the board and from here on in, Alonso is going to reel him in.

I thought this was common knowledge?

a snippet from todays press conference
Q. That is still on-going?

MS: It is an on-gong process I am afraid. But when the tough get going the going gets tough, sorry when the tough get going…

Q. I think we know what you mean.

MS: Yes exactly, you know what I want to say.

Q. Good try though.

MS: When the going gets tough the tough get going. I got it right now.
