Chinese Grand Prix 2013, Shanghai - Race 3/19

So Ferrari and Merc looking good on the long runs and Massa is looking awesome on the short runs.

I just hope Lewis gets in the top 5 in the race.

On soft tyres, Lewis and Rosberg are well matched, though Lewis was held up by traffic on his fast run (Hulkenberg I think, who was held up on his run by the Mercs)

Merc look strong, but so do Ferrari, RBR and Lotus. Mclaren...still not sure and it looked pretty loose on track at points.

Should be a good race, tyre lottery aside

Just had a read of the BBC GP roundup/guide.

BBC Chief F1 Writer said:
"Nor is it an especially enjoyable race to attend. Although glimpses of the real China - locals on bicycles etc - are a joy, the sky is thick with pollution, which burns your throat by the end of each day.

"Still, the racing, which is usually good, provides a distraction."

What a ****ing muppet, get out some more and experience the world!

Do you expect to see locals bumming around track on their bicycles, maybe a noddle seller at the end of the DRS straight

Yes the pollution is bad, but the race compound is well located, easy enough to get to, has good facilities and enough stands to procure plenty of drink/food, but most importantly offers sensational racing on a very well designed track.

And on the case of the ticket prices being expensive vs the local wages..... No **** you silly little *****, it's China, not Monaco. Anyway, our Grandstand seats on the backrow, in the DRS overtake area before the hairpin are £120, I doubt I could even enter Silverstone for that much.

Right, I'm off for Tepenyaki then more drinking :D:D

Nice pace Rosberg and Massa, although I'm going to put most my money on Rosberg.

Her was excellent here last year and still looks very good this year. His time was also set earlier in the session according to the BBC, so I think he could pull it out the bag.

I hope Vettel beaches it and Webber gets on the podium also :D

He glossed over the Monaco 2007 incident...

Monaco 2007, Turkey 2010, Silverstone 2011, all cases where drivers ignored team orders, but with nowhere near the reaction Malaysia 2013 got.

In two of those cases team orders were illegal, so it was more subtle. At Silverstone in 2011 Webber failed to pass Vettel because Vettel was also ignoring orders to slow down - as he often does - and both drivers had their engines in full racing mode.

What Vettel did in Malaysia was to steal a race that he was only able to win because he ignored an openly stated team order and Webber didn't, claim he didn't understand the order, admit later that he did understand and give a half-hearted apology, then retract that apology and say he'd do it again. It's a comprehensive demonstration of how to tell the world you don't give a damn about your team or your teammate or anything other than yourself.

Regardless of what other subjective padding you wrap around it, its still just drivers ignoring team orders, something that has been deemed 'completely unjustifiable' and 'worth a ban, and akin to being a rapist' by this forum.

Weather the orders were legal, weather you managed to pass or not, and weather you were a **** about the whole thing are irrelevant when the 'crime' that people are so up in arms about is disobeying what the boss on the pit wall has told you. Ignoring team orders is ignoring team orders, no matter which way you try and spin it.

Vettel still apologising, like he still believes it's fine to ignore your boss and just apologise after/play dumb.

Looking like it could be a good race on Sunday. Hoping Mercedes can pull this one out of the bag.
