Chip for 300C

thanks my Yaris is pretty fast for what it is. Its the same as theirs 1.5 Sport and ppl always say whats sporty about a Yaris. Well i say get in and i'll show you. 0-62 in 8.5 secs soon shuts them up. plus it nice around corners and can beat MK4 2.0l Golf GTi of the line and stay infront and can beat most little hatches as well.

how can you call me 16 you dont even know me. Just think about a nice little resistor that you can attach to whatever rubbish you drive

haha im sure that the Yaris turbo would beat whatever youve got and its still economical even though its got a turbo. Plus my over mate has a supercharger on his and well that beats Civic type-Rs and its always funny to see them laugh at 1st then see their faces when they loose to a Yaris. I know ppl are gonna say im talkin bull but think about 140hp on a car that weighs under 1000Kg are the power to weight ratio is a lot better than a Civic

Yeah... but no like my friends cousins boyfirends sisters husband has an enzo with a veyron engine in it you get me blad! But i digress...

Does anyone have any legitimate information on the fuel consumption and performance regarding the improvements the chips states it will make? (32bhp and 80Nm torque)

the chip will mess up your engine, you best buy a piggyback unit. They cost more but are better and dont mess around with the standard ECU. All what they are gonna do with that chip is stick it somewhere on your ecu board to trick it into thinking theres more air like ive said. Its not a good idea at all and if you want to do that then just go to ******s and buy a resistor yourself and fit it. Cost no more than a couple of quid

Anyone else?;)

the chip will work for a while till your engine goes pop! like what i said my mate put 1 in his 206 and he had to buy a new engine. The chip cost him £225 and it lasted about 5 months before it broke. Took it the Peugeot and then plugged in the device thing and they found out he had got a chip and just went theres your problem

He's 22, apparently.

Maybe it went pop because it was a crap map on an already crap car.

I like their extensive troubleshooting.

please disregard the above post . what a load a crap lol. A professionaly company wont be soldering resistors into airflow meters yada yada yada.

Do a search for Bluefin, this is a tool that you can usally use to install a pre map onto the car yourself. not only that but you can remove it, see if there is a version avalible for the car you wish to map. its pretty basic stuff but i know they do work to some degree. failing that do some research on specialist mappers who can maybe improve what you already have , however this is going to be costy and will involve the car attending a few rolling road sessions.

Hope the above proves useful.

Why would you pick a Yaris as a car to fit a turbo to? Honestly there's so many better options.

Or is this a case of "first car must spend money on it" that people seem to get a lot these days.

Its a pretty obscure car, you'll be lucky to find any proper RR figures or anything. Could try and see if there's any owners clubs?

A remap might be more appropriate than a chip, some places will do different maps for power/economy etc.

Failing that, if the car isnt really what he wants, it might be better to cut his losses and sell it and buy something else?

well you buy the chip hope your car needs a rebuild but dont cry when you have to folk out for an engine. If you do somemore research into it you'll find out that it is a waste of money and all the problems ppl have had

Thats what most piggybacks do when the intercept and modify the MAF or MAP sensor values. Some chipped ECU's is actually a complete change of the fuel and ignition tables, ie a proper job, not like a piggyback.

dude i fear you really are talking a lot of poop, the only way a chip will destory an engine would be to cause it to run lean, meaning a increase in temps (headgasket failure) or actually advancing timing to the point whereby detonation will occur and thrus destory valves/pistons. however its rpetty doubtful they would sell a chip that pushes any engine to this limit,.

not to mention which 206 was it? anything other than the gti's have a tu5 engine which is ancient and is found in just about every other cheapo car, 106's saxos, even citroen ax's.

Why would you buy a Polo GTi or a Lupo GTi, mahybe cause they are small, quick and economical. Plus You might want to fit a turbo or charger cause you want to. Why would you want to remap any car casue you want it to go faster cause you like the car

Thanks iaind, the owners club is a good suggestion and I will look into when I'm home from work.

What is the difference between a remap and using a chip? I thought chips just remapped the ECU, but I'm guessing this was nieve of me. And about the link i provided (http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/) , is that a chip or what? I think I'm in over my head... but I wish to learn all I can.

On the subject of getting a new car... nah he really likes this car, probably because everyone (who doesn't no a thing about cars) thinks its a bentley because of the GT grill on it. I always said to him to get a 730d but he went for this because it was a few grand cheaper... shame.

it was a 206 GTi 140 he wanted to map it to near a 180 to see why its only 0.5sec slower to 62 than the 180 but never did
