Chocolate...?

I always consider the £/g.

The 'Sandwich' style chocolate they released this year is woefully poor value. Barely over 130g for £10.

There's a premium....and then there's just taking the ****.

I saw that, even at £5 I felt cheated.

The All Out Eggs in One Basket is 1.195kg, at £25 it works out at 47.8g per £1.

Green & Black is £2 per 100g bars. Lindt is £1.89 per 100g bars. So it makes that eggs basket pretty good value.

So ( in a similar vein to wine threads ), what do you recommend for good value/everyday chocolate from supermarkets ?

Personally I find the Aldi Moser Roth 85% at £1.10 as good as Lindt 80/90% typically nearer £1.50
whilst for white chocolate Lidl white chocolate only about 40p ! close in quality to Lindt variety (with similar low cocoa butter content ~30%)

I concede Green and Blacks is typically nicer than Lindt but £2

The aldi chocolate in general I find pretty tasty and well priced to be honest.

Yep.

Interestingly last year the G&B 'Tasting Collection' Egg, with 24 mini bars in all their flavours, didn't carry any/much premium at all. Think I paid £12 for about 450g or 525g of chocolate.

sorry I am skeptical about the potential weight of cookies in this one, from description
they'll discover a gigantic cookie-crammed milk chocolate Ostrich half-shell
there are some extensive hotchoc reviews here but did not find this
eg bunny

Another supermarket variety I liked/discovered was 65% Waitrose Seriously rich dark chocolate (they gave me for free in my first waitrose delivery) currently 1.89/100g

That was my bunny ... he looked happy in the review !

cruel and unusual punishment ... still it could have been bunny melting feet
first in a pool of chocolate .. terminator'esque

These sound nice. Well tempted by the sea salt/caramel and the rose/vanilla.

yeah they are good - they travel out to the farms where they source their pods from and aim to give money to the farmers. http://www.choctree.co.uk/blog/

They do a chocolate sorbet that blows any ice cream out of the water. Can't do delivery on that though
