Christian Bale losing it on set of T4 at the DP

The guy's a method actor - he was in character, accent and all. I can totally understand his reaction. And even if it sounds excessive to us I bet outbursts like this are common place on a film set.

My guess is later on he would have been fine and the whole thing would have been forgotten about.

Found this actually:

"An associate producer for the forthcoming Terminator Salvation movie has defended Christian Bale's alleged on-set rant, insisting the actor was a "consummate professional" during filming. A man said to be actor Bale can be heard angrily screaming and using profanity at the movie's director of photography, Shane Hurlbut, for distracting him during shooting by walking into his field of vision.

In the four-minute tirade, Bale reportedly shouts: "I'm trying to do a ******* scene here and I'm going, 'Why the No Swearing! is Shane walking in there? What's he doing there?' Do you understand my mind is not in the scene if you're doing that?"

The man later promises to "kick his No Swearing! ass" before threatening to quit the film unless Hurlbut was fired.

But Bruce Franklin, an assistant director and associate producer on the fourth Terminator film, insists the star was only upset for a short period of time before his "moment" passed.

Franklin tells E! Online, "If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove... It was the most emotional scene in the movie. And for him to get stopped in the middle of it - he is very intensely involved in his character. He didn't walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed."

And Franklin is adamant the rant has only been released to slander Bale, who he worked with on the 2000 movie Shaft: "This was my second movie with Christian, and it has always been a good experience with him. He is so dedicated to the craft. I think someone is begging to make some noise (controversy) about this, but I don't think it's fair. The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it's an art form."

The audio clip, allegedly recorded in July 2008, was obtained by TMZ.com, which claims the film's executives sent the tape to their insurance company in case Bale didn't finish filming the movie."

Sure seems OTT and unprofessional to me.

Remix is great though, love how someone always does something like that on the internet :D

Wonder if Arnold had such outbursts during shooting of the previous 3 movies . Actually, I doubt it.

Method actor and he's in character, I'm with him on this one. If there's unprofessional morons on the set then they deserve a good dressing down.

He's in the middle of a scene and someone's messing around. Its not that weird for him to lose it, I've seen numerous clips of other people including weather people for that matter going ape for someone distracting them.

I, like many others, used to go ape if someone put me off while i was playing a computer game. If anything that's a load worse because your doing it purely recreationally, not as a part of your job. If it was any other profession that was requiring a high degree of concentration do you think the outcome would be different? Heavy machine worker? Brain surgeon? Bomb diffuser? If someone came in a couple of times and distracted them they'd lose it. In a situation where he should be taking more care i think Bale is right to question his professional competence.

Just listened to it now as I'm home and Bale does seem to flip out quite a lot. You can understand his reasons though as you don't need idiots messing with the most important scene of the film.

balls to 'having an excuse'. Bale was an arse. Doesnt stop me thinking he's one of the best actors of this generation even if i thought he was awful in DK.

Nobody needs to be spoken to like that. speak to the director, get him to have a word and compose and re-take. home many scenes do you think bale will screw up himself because he's being an arse? who's going to go balistic at him for it? nobody because hes a 'method actor in character'? tosh.

Have to say this didn't surprise me, I've always thought Bale came across as a bit arrogant and having no time for (in his mind) the weak or foolish.

However, I can understand how infuriating someone distracting you on set could be, I think Bale is a bit of a perfectionist and he clearly will come down on anyone who is not showing the same level of respect for the film.

I don't know exactly why they used those abbreviations, perhaps they are common in the industry? I haven't seen DP before but it just seemed logical and CB is very specific, quite possibly never used before (it not even that long a name, Chris Bale isn't so hard to type)! I expect theres lots around where I'd feel like a silver surfer seeing "LOL" and "TBH" and whatnot for the first time ;)

he just lost it - was quite funny. Everyone does it at one time or another. :D

my other suspicion was that it was a publicity stunt... but maybe not.
