Christian Bale losing it on set of T4 at the DP

I can understand where he's coming from, and I'd be ****** if I was in his shoes, but still, he does come across as a bit of a tool reacting to that extent.

Are you debating the use of my abbreviations? seriously?

DP is an industry standard abbreviation for Director of Photography, also DoP.

CB was specific, I intended that due to my typing circumstances and people knew exactly what I meant anyway so was not relevant for discussion!

If you do it again I'll ******* kill you!!! Internet is serious business!!!

:p

HAHA. This is just brilliant.

Good ol' Christian Bale. Would be so great to be that rich and succesful that you can do that and not care and still have people begging to give you millions.

I am not in the 'industry' so don't know what DoP means and the use of such abbreviations confused me as to the meaning of CB. Could it mean Christian Bale or could it mean something else? I am a straightforward person that cannot abide jargon and firmly believe that all acronyms, initialisms, and alphabetisms should be avoided. I am otherwise known as a grumpy *******. :D

The internests iz indeed a serious bizniz.

If you consider Stanley Kubrick's way of working, you could do over 100 takes and still not get the perfect scene. Now McG doesn't strike me as that kind of director, but it's quite possible to nail a scene after who knows how many takes, only for it to be ruined, then be unable to quite match that take.

You can imagine how infuriating that might be.

Slightly OT, but a good example of this is in the film Living In Oblivion, a great satire on movie making.

To be honest I think Bale was pretty spot on to be annoyed - surely a directory of photography knows not to do things mid-scene?
From what I've seen, DOP's often tweak lights during scene rehearsals, but they won't during take for obvious reasons... Normally actors are not phased but evidently this isn't always the case! :D

He would've been better just telling the director that it's putting him off, and he'd be ok with it...

Speaking like that to anyone is out of order, but then again we don't know the full context of his outburst. Judging by the comments he makes and the tone/texture of his voice (yes I'm an expert at this :p), I'm guessing the release of tension and anger was a more long term issue rather than a spontaneous incident (if that makes any sense).

Definitely agree that he should make an apology though ... we all get stressed from time to time and on many occasions we do things that we later regret, but whats important is that we make amends and praise the lord.

I liked his reaction to be honest :D

He obviously cares about the scene LOL. Still think hes great, seems like he wants to nail the film hahaha.

No doubt he was annoyed and had a right to be a bit miffed, but Jesus - way to go on and on about it. Sounds like one of those kids at school that has an older / tougher brother so he is happy to let his mouth run.

The DP was way out of order trying to get the last word all the time. He needs to learn humility and hierarchy.

Bale was OTT, but he's the STAR. Prima Donna entitled.

How does being the "star" and being higher in the so called "hierarchy" entitle Bale to get the last word in?

No one should ever be talked to like that, especially not in the workplace.
