Christian Values

Probably already been said, but I dont really think religious values have done a "net" good to the world if you take into account all the flippin' wars that they've started.

It's a pretty naive view to say religions started wars. No, greedy despots start wars, religion is the motivation they use to get "Joe Public" to be their soldiers. In a world with no nuclear bombs to cause stalemates, and no religions. Rulers will still desire, lands, resources, their name to go down in the history books etc. Religion is just a fantastic way to get a lot of people to do what you want. If there weren't religions they would find other ways to do it that would be synonymous with religions as you and I know them.

And I would argue that religions, at least the ones that survive today, are a net good. Considering they for a large part have gotten us where we are. Like with all topics of the day, immigration, politics generally etc. People only focus on the headlines. The Catholic Church is just a bunch of paedos and Gay-Bashers, Muslims are terrorists, blah blah blah. Meanwhile in the real world, most catholics are nice people that probably get some solace from their beliefs, the same with most muslims. If that helps them lead a better life, if that gives them transcendental inspiration to do and be better than humanly possible then why is that a bad thing? Science will never answer what is the meaning of life? Religion answers it, rightly or wrongly, it answers it. For some people that answer is enough. Don't take the influence of bad individuals doing things in the name of religions as all adherents of those religions. It's baseless.
“The worst moment for an atheist is when he is really thankful and has no one to thank.”"

It is mostly down to terrible parenting.

You see it all the time. There is zero discipline going on.

I was having a meal in a pub yesterday and a few families were letting their kids run riot (shouting, running about, screaming etc)

They just grow up to be entitled brats who don't give a **** about anyone , as they have been raised to believe the world revolves around them.

The thing about religion is it makes people think outside of their own lives.

Most people these days come out with entitled rubbish and have nearly zero self awareness, to the point it makes them look stupid.

There will always be a dominating entity over society. I'd say at the moment its social media, sports and the news.

Religion has been a crutch for the stupid/ignorant for a very long time, but now there are new crutches. :D

Ps. I'm not saying all religious people are stupid or ignorant

Some, perhaps even many people, but most?
I find throughout my working life and private that most people are good and decent and not entitled.

I am absolutely not a fan of any religion whatsoever, but if I had to choose one to remain as the number one religion in the UK, it'd have to be Christianity. It's just a shame that it's under attack at every opportunity.

Apart from the paedo priests, it does promote a good message and one that I would be happy with for this country. We need to stop Islam's growth at all costs.
Why?
And not just stopping the growth of Islam but at all costs!

"At all costs", vague probably violent language implied. So would genocide against Muslim children be ok to you?

(technically achieves what you want within the realms of "at all costs")

Westernised Muslims are completely fine, because they've grown up in a civilised country where we actually respect each other. But the rest cannot be trusted at all over in Europe.

Most people i imagine would see nothing in it, and perhaps it's not anyone's responsibility to control the urge to talk in absolutist and vague terms. But if some weirdo-on-the-edge comes around and see's it, you can bet his/her worldview is strengthened by the mere thought of acceptance. Then we end up getting lovely MP's shot or people run over.

Again one can easily take the lack of responsibility view and live happily ever after, that's cool i guess.

I was probably harsh to call them "stupid", especially as I'm trying to talk up Christian values lol

I think a lot of people are of a fragile character and they end up getting exploited, especially by greed.

I think we have to acknowledge that not everyone is the same as we are. I can sit in a room for hours and not talk. I can be doing my own thing. But for other people they would hate that. They need interaction, guidance and reassurance from other people.
