Cities Skylines 2 is Official!

Been watching infrastructurist on YouTube this morning and particularly this one:

But looks like he is using anarchy, being able to clip buildings, and also plopping buildings and assets, using a surface painter and parking lots.

Pretty cool stuff.

I'm not ready to jump back on yet, I think it needs a bit more time but looking positive.

Saying that if I get a spare few hours at some point I might be tempted to start to terraform a new map, then start to put the major road/rail infrastructure in without actual really building anything as such.

That is looking encouraging, lets see how things develop over time.

I'm not sure how some modders might be concerned about this...

I had been following a thread, well constructed, of a veteran player from CS days....

Pop-cap.png

the title and the opening post has been changed several times. He had manged to get to a population of 2 million, then it would level out and not increase. Since the latest patch that has reduced considerably. Whether his thoughts on why this has been done, seems hard coded from following that post, I'm not sure.
Lots of detail and statistics etc within that thread.

I've been giving this a go the last few weeks. Getting on quite well with it and performance seems OK. One thing that is bugging me is the graphics quality. It just seems poor even though everything is running quite high. And the shimmering textures annoys the crap out of me. And a lot of jaggies that I can't seem to get rid of. Anyone else think the graphics are still bugged? Or is it just me lol.

@Firegod Putting aside everything else that is wrong with the game the graphics are a mixed bag for me. I can look at some zoomed in shots and think "wow, that's impressive". Then others are just "meh", maybe more so when zoomed out a little. I am then reminded that it is so similar to that of CS. The grass etc is so........plain.
Even the Nvidia app does not rate my chances with my 4080....

@Vimes managed to suss the jaggies and shimmering. Was the AA. I hadn't gone into advanced. You have to set it to TAA and not Subpixel Morphological AA (Default).

That's helped a load.

Watched a few videos as well and turned off DoF, the Fog and Motion Blur etc. I'm maxed out on settings at 1440p and getting about 40fps. So it is playable at least. Just glad the shimmering flickering is gone. :D

@Firegod Thanks for that. I will have a go using those. I had kinda accepted that the graphics were just another being bugged, not sure what they advantage by being set the way they are by default.

I have disabled those other settings also, they were all on / highest.

It's better than vanilla CS1 if that is what you are asking. Of course there is less overall content but CS1 had 14 expansions or something daft like that.
