Cities: Skylines

Remember that some YT players use mods to make things a little easier, like the Demand Mod. Also infinite money is often used.
I have seen cities created by Sam using such mods, makes it easier when you don't have to think about your budgets and creating demand.
It does unbalance the game and the Demand Mod isn't free of issues.
Some of the YT City "painters" are very creative and spend more time than I could be bothered to with such detail.
Much of this game is down to traffic management. Not too difficult once you get the hang of figuring it out.

Really glad I got a 6 core CPU because loading takes forever and the freezing on my laptop is insane, got about 50 mods and 6500 assets, takes 20 mins to load game. Wanted to try the Cork save game that someone made as it looks amazing but doesn't load at all

At least with skylines we have the freedom to make monstrosities that bring PCs to their knees. Unlike simcity 2013 "we need to make sure dave with his celeron from 2007 can run it so the maps will be 100m2 in size sorry dealwithit"

OK time to focus on more games like Anthem because I'm like addicted to cities I'm always thinking of trying to build complex cities but it's in my mind too much. I love you, but it's time to let you go xxx

lol you'll be back.
I am in the middle of another break from CS. I am trying to get into Tropico 6, plenty of others to play which have been on my back burner for ages, but I know that I'll be back to CS soon. There is talk about another patch and DLC out soon for CS.

What DLC??? Any idea of new things to come?

Nothing formally noted.
I had read a post over at Steam...

I looked through the Steamapp database and just today it shows that they are creating the trailer for the next DLC! :-)

Also, the internal codename for the dlc is "Crunchy" but it doesn't mean anything because it's just a name they use internally. (industries was called "icebreaker").

Also they are playtesting the 1.12 patch.

So nothing from CO or Paradox. But incoming seems likely.

Not sure what else they could bolt onto the game without it grinding to an halt .!

I know!

Shame they can't optimise the crap out of it.

I used to be annoyed at the hard cap of certain limits imposed in the game, agents and numbers of vehicles etc. But then I got to realise that often my game would start grinding not due to the hard limits imposed but due to the engine itself.
What I mean is that timing a full day cycle on 1x speed (3 x speed doesn't work when the city is very large) and it would chug along whilst within those hard limits and yet the CPU load would not be above 88% or so. So it would use all the cores of my overclocked i7 but the performance was limited by pushing the game beyond the 9 tiles that it was intended for and not my hardware.
I doubt that there is much they can do in a meaningful way for optimisations. As big as a city you have there is only going to be a max of 16k vehicles on it, that's why 25 or 81 tile huge cities look like ghost towns , with so few vehicles for the size of map.

What DLCs are recommended to start a game as a new player?

I bought several of the DLC's when they come on sale. Others I pre-ordered being more confident of getting value from them.
I like to use transport in my Cities and so I liked the Mass Transport DLC, altho I got Snowfall as they placed Trams in that one, bizarre but there you go.
I also enjoy Industries, Parklife and Green Cities - perhaps in that order.
I did not enjoy Natural Disasters, in fact I often keep that disabled as tree fires are still crazy when using it. I do miss the helicopters not being in the game tho with it being disabled.
After-dark is good for the day and night cycle. But also it adds bikes.

A good place to see what they can add to the type of City you like to build.....

good luck :)

Thanks for the list man, I have After Dark already because I got it through the humble bundle. With them on sale I might pick a few up over the next few days. I am off next week so it would be a good time to give it a proper go.
