Cities: Skylines

Thought I'd be clever and use some one way roads in my first minute of playing... Didn't realise they drive on the right and suddenly my traffic control was ruined.

haha, i did something similar.

I knew about the setting for LHD, so i enabled that. I started building some 1-ways off the initial entry, and it wasnt until i'd got about 4k people in there that i'd realised i'd done the extended highway/entrance road 1 way in the wrong direction, so it was a bit like when you come off the ferry in Calais and you have to swap from left to right side :D

I'd been watching the streams and just instinctively followed what i'd seen so many do already :o

The dam has been nothing but trouble so far. Its either causing water levels to raise and floods my town, or its costing 250k for a huge dam which does squat for power (flickering between 32-48MW and none).

Oddly I have the recommended settings; just, and yet performance is bad unless I really start dropping the graphics setting into medium settings.

Win 10 Beta

Anyone else on Win 10 beta? I'm wondering if it could be the OS.

Update: Ok restarted the client now it's fine.

Anyone using 21:9 monitor for this? If so does it work correctly ?

I do, and it does. The developers even released a handful of 21:9 pics about 10 days back when they were doing 1 a day, which was nice to see.

also finally managed to get the dam to work, think it took 5-6 attempts (loading save each time, and waiting quite a while to see what happened with water levels). Getting alternating 250-350MW from it.
Think i'll save it here and then block the other river, see what happens then. It'll either intensify it or flood the town again :D

Ooh, I wonder if you have low enough land and enough rivers to block, you can flood a plain of land... I can see some playing with the map editor in sandbox mode on this :D

@ Huddy TBH I get poor performance on all Unity Engine games as for some reason they never set up the VSynch properly. It's not just you.

You can flood a plain of land I've just found that out the hard way.

My OCD* is kicking in with this, all of the the initial highway connections seem to be ever so slightly uneven, making for some not so arrow straight roads :(

*I know OCD is a debilitating condition and being a bit "funny" about things being straight is not actually OCD.

"Hmm the maps a bit bigger but not that much more than Simcity" I think... Then a popup appears telling me I can buy more land and I realise I'm only on like 1/9th of the whole!

A view from the rich side of town

For some reason, there is a really bad compression using Steam's pic capture mode.. Game looks way way better while playing.

Amazing so far. Loving every aspect of this, bar some road being ever so slightly off centre in some areas.

So far got £250k in the bank with 3.5k tennants. Zoned in some industry and then changed it all too Forestry. Seems very profitable so far. Need to sort out my roads and get some better traffic flow.

For me this is a 10/10 though, a truly decent replacement for Sim City 4.

Will lose hours of my life in my little town!

:D
