Cities: Skylines

My 780 was hitting the low 70's last night, gave me great frames, but this is a City Sim not an FPS so I don't want that higher frames.

Never used Nvidia Inspector or Afterburner, might get them tonight and try limit the frames to 60.

I need to figure out my roads also.

Not really managed to play much last night but what I seen looked good. Has anyone built a big city yet? Whats performance like? I bought Trainfever two weeks ago and that starts chugging badly.

I like it, its everything Sim City had and more, its pretty much what Sim City should have been. I saw you can also expand your plot when needed with additional squares which is a nice middle finger to Sim City

Don't forget to download the unlock all plots mod, it allows you to upgrade to 25 plots instead of the default 9. But its computer reliant and may cause your city to go super slow past 9 plots.

You can download a mod from Steam Workshop which gets rid of Chirpy!

I have it that and the 25 tiles, not used them yet as apparently you don't get the achievments if you use them.

Played for a few hours last night and so far this is everything I was hoping it would be.

I know its a little thing, but I was so happy to see the left hand drive option.

I kinda suck at city builders, but having a great time, its certainly very accessible for anyone. I'm avoiding grids, probably very inefficient but looks nice.

How do you all break out of the grid based layouts? I want something more "organic" to it, like real villages/cities.

Bottom left there is a lock to grid button.

No not really, it tells you connect a road and to get zoning, and a few messages pop up telling you to build stuff, but no actual tutorial.

When I was saving I noticed an auto save entry in the list. I didn't take much notice and didn't see how often it updated, and I'd heard there was no auto save, buy maybe you'll be I. Luck.

If you've played a city builder before you don't need a tutorial, it's very intuitive.

Start by following coastline or a lake that will force you to do it.

Here are a few snaps of my town so far

Around 20,000 Population, Large Industrial area over to the right there with all the usual power, water, sewage located as well

Just in front is my Large residential and Office area so the main part of my town off to the back left has all the small communities schools etc

Here is what i have just started to build as i have bought 2 more tiles so expand the population for some small communities and to build a small commercial area

Currently have 0 Crime, Great health and great Fire service... what can go wrong? haha
