wheres cheapest place to pick this up?

@Joel, I've actually found Steam is, few cd key sites are more expensive due to tax they put it on it etc.

GMG is about £16
Nuuvem is £12.48 (need to run through vpn though to checkout on thier site but get steam code straight away and just sling it in steam to downlaod)

Caved in and bought from GMG... I must say from the lets play's I've been watching it looks leaps and bounds better than EA's 'effort'. Can't wait to get home and give it a go :)

bought from cdkeys for £14 ish in the end. when he said steam i was expecting £16ish as id seen that mentioned breifly when scanning through the thread. at £24 i wasnt going to pay that.

Im finally up for another CSL shift. Steam says 12hrs :D

The first half went really well, sort of hovering around the 6-10k mark for a long time. Traffic was fine, i was happy with all the road layouts and plenty of money, with the only occasional issue being full cemeteries.

The second half seemed to have a flurry of population, peaking just shy of 40k.
With that came extra demand and the highway is now far more complicated. Money is around 5m, so its not a problem to try quite a few things until im happy with something, and by the time i'd switched off the majority of the traffic is moving quite nicely. The only spot i havent fixed is an industrial district which still clogs up down 1 section, but not too bad.
I did spot at one point that my highway traffic had got so bad that there was a rather large 1-lane tailback. It ran from the highway into the industrial area, out of my map tile to one at least a 2k tile away where theres a roundabout junction, it then came back ran past my industrial area so folks could wave at those further in the queue, and then came close to leaving my 2km map area the other direction :D

All in all, i havent really changed much of the roads. The layout is still 99% the same, ive just refined entrances, given additional exit options for the industrial area.

Still on 4 tiles, think i have access to 7-8, but theres still plenty of room in the first tile and the forestry area.

Suprisingly, the big grid city i created at the beginning, ive never changed anything. I added a 6-lane exit purely because i noticed some of the farming traffic was taking a really stupid route to the industrial area, and the 6-lane looked nicer than the 4. The city is all basic 2 lane roads though, and never had any traffic issues.
Industry is what causes the most problems, especially anything which needs importing. My farming area is build on farming land, and i put a sea port in (cos why not) and a ship regularly turns up and spews out about 20 lorries with wood goods. Havent noticed anything this bad with the train areas though, nothing like Quill had, although im only using 2 and no passenger.

Very happy with things so far. I think i'll get to 50k and then have a crack at making my own map.

So what are you guys doing about garbage? In my current city I'm only up to 12k residents but I still feel like I have to place landfill everywhere :/

Crematoriums & Incinerators are the solution for Cemeteries & Landfills.

Incinerators also create a little bit of power too, and its worth dumping them around the map, they have trucks too so they can be a direct replacement for landfills. Just empty the landfill to another location and then you can destroy it.

Destroying Cemeteries seems to make them unhappy, but they'll get over it and they wont be complaining about dead bodies!

Looks good @PaulC2K! How intuitive was it setting up all those intersections/highways etc? I've only played a hours so far and haven't gotten into that much detail yet

Thanks. I'd watched quite a lot of twitch, so i suppose some things i'd picked up from that and you kinda come up with solutions in your head to what they're doing wrong and how you'd never have that issue etc. That said, theres been places like the first city with just regular 2-lane road in a busy city which has never been an issue. 90% of my roads are 2 lane, and a fair amount of the 1-ways ive removed for regular roads. Its the strain that industry creates thats surprised me.

There hasnt been anything thats puzzled me, or disappointed me, the dam perhaps cos it kept flooding my city but the map was very flat and no banking so it took a few attempts to get that, but i cant fault the game for that really.

Thanks! I've placed incinerators, but as soon as I start emptying the landfills people start complaining about garbage. I guess its maybe because then they are busy emptying instead of collecting? Maybe more incinerators are needed.

One thing I really like about this vs. Sim City is that you can move placed buildings. I always spent so much money bulldozing buildings because they were not perfectly placed :D
