Cities: Skylines

About 12 hours in and my city seems to be ticking along quite nicely at the moment, except about 1am last night I decided to rebuild some motorway junctions... Not always wise...

Don't forget you can add as many of motorway intersections as you need where you need them. This game is great - the traffic model is brilliant. Just try faffing with your roads and you'll see what I mean. Hours of fun.

Motorway Junctions into and out of the industrial area. The High density accommodation behind it is Low/Med education population to keep the industry fed with workers:

So tempted to pick this up... always loved Sim City but didn't get the latest instalment after it looked to have done-away with all the things I liked most about the series...

Have watched a few gameplay videos but just wondering if anyone has played through to the later parts of the game - does it progress nicely as the city gets bigger etc?

I've done a few pics of my city so far. I may have gotten carried away...:

This is Bedford Hills, the first district I built. It's rather posh.

This main thoroughfare seperates Bedford Hills and West Bedford, and leads right in to the heart of the city.

The avenue leads to Bruntfield, a high value area with some fantastic shopping.

As we carry on down, we see an interesting roundabout. The road ahead splits Bruntfield to the left, and Cedar Square to the right.

Cedar Square has the highest land value in the city. Despite being densely packed, the buildings are all top notch and are restricted in height. No smelly trucks are allowed here either.

Meanwhile on the East side of town, the botanical gardens (what idiot placed that directly opposite the bus depot?!?) marks the start of Washington Park. This office district is walking distance from parts of Bruntfield and Bedford Hills.

Finally, Downtown. This will look a lot better with skyscrapers!

Sorry about that. Had to get it out my system! :p

I have so many people Dying in my city and requiring body pick up... yet when i click on my Crematoriums (i have about 30) everything is in the Green... haha i must be doing something wrong

I read somewhere (I think on official forums) that if you place loads of residential in one go so that they all get moved in at the same time, then people in those houses will die about the same time. So the issue is then that theres simply too many bodies at one time for the crematoriums/graveyards to handle before its too late.

So apparently if you zone residental with a bit of a break inbetween then this shouldn't be an issue.

It was a post from a user not a dev so not confirmed however :)

Right I'm in on this. Absolutely love Sim City, not so much the last one, and I was so looking forward to Cities XL until that turned out to be naff, but from the comments on here this looks like a winner!

I think trees are free to plant and don't do anything but add scenery?

I'm guessing pollution goes away over time if you stop polluting

Has anyone bothered with any mods as yet...?

Killing chirpie
auto save every ten minutes
auto bulldoze
all spaces unlockable

etc etc

or are the Steam achievements too important, or simply no need at this point to mod....?

They cost £10 (for the big ones at least) to plant, they are supposed to reduce noise pollution but that doesnt seem very effective either.

Apparently you can't. It will naturally disappear if you de-zone the Industrial area though.

Bah, at least when my clean industries kick in I'll hopefully be able to get rid of the dirty stuff.

I want to get the most out of the game as it is for my first city, maybe mess with mods when i im done to add life to it ;)

Just had to buy this for my 8 year old, he is already telling me the issues with my zoning.

Excellent!

Going to start again tonight, cannot settle into a planning design that I like! It's driving me mad.
