Cities: Skylines

Love the plot of land you start off with. Already three times as big as that paltry plot of land you get in SimCity. Then after 5 minutes of playing I already have the option to buy MORE land.

Makes SimCity look like a joke in this respect, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was intended that way.

Few Mods you should all be using:
Upgrade roads to 1 or 2 way!
Unlock all 25 tiles instead of default 9

Also are Dam's bugged? I placed one which at the start once it had backed up was generating 320mw. Over time it started to produce less and less until it was under 1/3 of its capacity. The Dam side had a huge body of water behind it and the outlet side had none so in theory it should have been churning out the mw but barely any. From testing and playing about it seems the output is effected by the river flow strength, but considering you are essentially restricting/stopping the river flow isn't this flawed?

I wonder if water pumps and sewage drains affect water flow?

I also placed a dam infront of a huge lake and it didn't produce any power.. Once I moved it so that it had a river behind it, it worked fine.

Pumps do seem to change the water flow but then the water flow itself can take ages to settle. If your dam was making power it may be the source had pushed down against the dam made the power for a bit then settled back to refill the reservoir eventually it should settle and all work once it reaches the actual height of the road along the top of the dam. I always put pumps at the bottom of a dam to lower the water height there as it does seem to give you that bit more power. The power you get from a dam seems directly related to the actual drop. I ended up making a map to get the actual effect I wanted.

One thing I am finding is how valuable pedestrian walkways are for really reducing traffic flow.

Went to play this although it was failing to enter full screen mode causing my mouse to wonder onto my other screen when moving to the left which was irritating.

Forced it into DX9 and it enabled full screen mode (g-sync then activated) but my mouse would still go for walk abouts on the left of the screen :(

Didn't end up playing over the weekend as i didn't want a little thing like that to ruin my experience on what seems to be a great game. i think i'll scan the forums to see if there is a fix being implemented or if my resolution just isn't meant for it!

The only fix atm is to use the mod called Cursor Jail.

If you want achievements while you have mods enabled you have to get the mod that enables achievements.

Ahh, it is strange i am forced to drop down to DX9 to even enable full screen mode, regardless of my mouse going off the screen or not. that is deffo not right haha!

Thanks for the links mate i'll get those installed when i get home

It would be nice if a lot of these mods are incorporated into the actual game in a patch at some point.

I do like this game a lot. Can quite easily lose a lot of time playing it though. I have restarted so many times due roads.

I hate straight lines and also want a really good road system with one ways etc. I spend forever trying to get things just right then get frustrated that it looks crap and log off without saving :D

EA should be embarrassed that they released SimCity when compared with this.

This game is absolute class!! Love love love it.

My only gripe... and hear me out and tell me if i'm wrong is.

The whole trade system is rubbish, the one good thing about sim city was the import and export. I.e you had to use buildings to improve trade and educate your sims to work on silicone chip. Once you'd mined the resource’s under your city you start importing the materials to make and ship back out. Also miss the idea of sending materials jointly with a friend to construct a solar power plan, living quarters and what not…. If I’m wrong please please tell me.

Also I miss not being able to manually upgrade buildings and facilities… i.e add another truck station and what not.

But to re-iterate the game as a whole is great. I’ve already hit 70,000 sims in 7 hours of game play… Most of which was spent on idle as I thought I’d leave it earn money. Its very very easy to reach the end game…. Anyways, time to instal the 25 panel mod and try see how many sims you can get living there

Nah, you're spot on mate I mentioned it a few days ago now that the trading and multiplayer was the only thing Sim City had over this.

Ah glad i'm not the only one... I absolute hate EA, everything about them. But this game is polished and works perfect. But my word its so so so easy!

Like yesterday, i couldn't be bothered to wait for slow growth, built a big area, lost 4million while sims moved in lowering taxes and putting policies in place... For them all to move back in, within an hour i'd jumped from 60,000 to 80,000 sims.

Think this game might have a short shelve life.

I agree on both things :)

Does specialized industry count when industry is in demand? Because when I build it, it seems like the demand does not go down at all until I build normal industry. I want places with no purple pollution :(
