Can anyone offer me some tips / advice on basic but good traffic/road management? Everytime i feel like im making progress my roads turn to poop :( ive dabbled with one way systems etc but not sure whats best

Thanks!

I noticed someone has already made one, but it's dreadful. Just a giant triangle with bad textures.

It's more than just that - there are some bits on the sides to be done, the top needs to have the jagged pieces right.

I've got some ideas as well for the textures to make it look decent. The one already done has no depth to it either.

I'm not into city building, but if I were I think this is the game I'd buy. I love looking at some of the videos coming onto YT now and seeing what players have put together. Some really great cities to see.

I'd really like to be able to look at others creations in detail, not only for the awe factor but to try and help me with my own shoddy planning.

Does anyone else suffer from "Not enough workers!" from their industrial buildings quite a lot?

In my current city, I've built two distinct districts on either side of a motorway (which connects to the outside). On the left is the industrial district. On the right is residential interspersed with commercial.

Even though the demand indicators are all in good balance, a huge part of my industrial district is reporting a lack of workers - to the extent that many buildings have now become abandoned. I had read that this could be due to people not being able to get to their jobs, but I've built several 4 lane roads running between residential/commercial areas, bridging the motorway but attached to it with slip roads. I've also set up extensive bus links to the area.

The traffic is generally quite god (there's only one junction, a slip road from the motorway onto the 4 lane roads, that's often quite snarled up), so not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does distance between homes and jobs count for more than I thought?

Maybe your population has grow to old to work. Maybe try zoning some Res to bring in some younger people who can then work. The workers don't travel to work they teleport there. The game designers have stated this and gave their reasoning behind it too. It works believe it or not.

I do think your work force is to old to work thats why you're getting need more workers icons.

What level are your industrial areas? If they are 2 or below then you won't get advanced industries and your educated populace won't want to work there.

Make sure your industrial areas still have good services and place some parks to bring the land value up.

I didn't even know that worker age was a feature! So essentially, you always have to create new residential when expanding your industrial capacity.

No idea, but I did think it was to do with not having an "uneducated" work force, but I'm sure I read somewhere that this doesn't matter that low level industry will still employ educated workers.

Interesting though. I will have a play when I get home, see if I can boost the area a bit. Cheers guys.

Yeah I'm guessing your people are to well educated. I had this problem even with industry levelled up, I've pretty much given up on industry as I didn't like denying my little people an education.

I just have a slum region with no public transport. People are still getting educated but less than if they all had easy access. I tend to find it goes in waves of either not having enough resources or an ageing population.
