Cities: Skylines

This games looks interesting. I haven't played a good City builder in years so I'll have to pick it up at some point

Think I'll avoid the live streams. Curious to know more but rather not spoil it for myself, in the same way I avoid trailers for films I'm excited about.

Got the rest downloading from YouTube to watch later on.

Someone posted a couple of interchanges that Quill uploaded to the workshop, one of them was rather nice and small. Looked more like a regular motorway junction, rather than multiple motorways merging, or all these long off-ramps going over the motorway, taking up tons of space with no real benefit. I'll try and find it and edit it into this post

I did that with SimCity 2013 and avoided reading or watching anything about it pre release. I had pre ordered it as soon as it was available and wow did I get that one wrong. What a donkey of a release that was, on par with Rome II.

I'm still looking forward to this one though, after finishing mashing zombies for a while in Dying Light and hopefully patch 1 will hit on Thursday for Atilla, so that will give me a few days before this is out. Providing that the Nuuvem order comes through.!
 
I watched plenty and still got stung :D

Not really sure theres anything to spoil by watching tbh. Theres no story to ruin or whatnot, i guess the only thing would be over saturation and being bored of it no sooner than you've finally got hold of it.

Ive enjoyed what we've seen so far from Quill, its remarkable how many times you'd watch something and realise thats exactly how SimCity should have been. Adding new highway access points, relocating buildings for a small cost rather than bulldozing it and paying full price again to move it a few tiles over etc. Just lots of little things.

I love it when he zooms right in and watches the people going about their business.

I will need a way to either remove or move that blue bird thing that site in the middle/top of the screen.

It just gets in the way and looks silly.
 
No, the blue bird that sits at the middle/top of the screen during gameplay.

It needs to have options to move it to left or right, or preferable remove it altogether. It just attracts the eye all the time and ruins the otherwise great gfx.

Yes, and a very annoying part. It's so annoying that everything else about the game seems great and then, in 2015 ffs, they go and put a stupid blue cartoon bird right in the eye-line. A bird that can't be moved or removed
 
Its a game feature, a not particularly popular one at that. Its 'Chirper', its how the citizens communicate their feelings to you.

Apparently you'll be able to disable the sound and the auto-notification/popup. I wouldnt mind it if the bird was over to the top right side of the screen and the text came out to the left of it, its the whole movement and text coming down into the middle of the screen which is distracting. I dont think its as bad as i first thought though tbh.

I've also seen my surname pop up quite a few times. In the PDX videos, 2 different people had messages from them in the first few minutes, and ive seen it twice in Quills stream without really paying much attention :D

I think someone mentioned that in the Quill stream chat, rather amusing IMO, if somewhat inaccurate, cos 'Not the rubbish one' implies theres only 1 rubbish one, and both SimCity and XXL are pointing at each other.
