City Fibre

Anyone here with CityFibre via Giganet? How are you finding it?

Thinking of switching my mum over as she's sick of VM.

Looks pretty good given the UK service/support, £35 p/m for the 300mb package. Currently on more with VM but varies massively from 60Mbp/s to 400Mbp/s for her M6000 package.

How is the router that Giganet provide compared to the abomination that is Virgin Hub.

I also understand that there is a £25 referral bonus, for Giganet customers.

I got the 900/900 from Vodafone for 29per month
Yep, same here.

You kind of just have to be patient with ordering, as they always run a promotion every few weeks.
With the pricing constantly changing, it makes no sense to get 900 at the current price (£50).

I’m looking at going with them. They’re £16 a month cheaper than my BT package, and 3 months free. Cost of cancelling BT early is £100 so well worth doing in my position.

Just waiting for orders to go live - the cabinet etc is built.

Plans have indeed expanded and Brockworth is now part of our build boundary. The city-wide project still has a couple of years to run and it may be that long before we can make Brockworth ‘live’ but it’s definitely included in our Gloucester full fibre rollout now. Other peripheral areas such as Longford, Churchdown and Innsworth are also being considered for inclusion.

Kind regards, Neil

 :)

Anyone on the 100mbps and can tell me if it's usually close to 100, or it's sort of like Virgin where they sync at something above 100, in order to advertise 100 average? Speed tests would be helpful.
Originally signed up with the 500meg but the sneaky way they do the inflation increases, by basing them on the full pre-discounted amount has put me off and think I'll go for the 100meg with all the other discounts and incentives. Can you upgrade midcontract? Is it usually full price if you do so/

Which provider?

City Fibre are super slow with rolling anything out with their network! they cabled my street nearly 2 years ago and its been live only a few months. Thought at last I can get away from Virgin media but the only ISP's available in my area on City Fibre are Vfast or Talktalk both of whom want £45 for the 900 meg package. I had my mind set on Vodaphone 900/900 as it looks great for the price, but they can't even give you any info on when or even if they will be available.

City Fibre have taken so long that BT have also upgraded the whole area and gone live before they did with a different 900meg package albeit slower upload speeds. Find it very puzzling why other ISP arn't available as soon as its gone live like they are on a BT network as they have other partners live all over the Country in different area's.

Yep cityfibre put my area as planned around 2 years ago, started works 6 months or so ago, then grain came in 2 months ago and have finished lol (not my street though but the ones around me).

Just dont understand how cityfibre are so slow in their rollout.

Given the reports of others it could easily be 1-2 years before I can order cityfibre which is mental. They havent activated any new streets in my entire city for about a year.

If you leave it a while more providers should be available. They have some contractural issues with ISPs. I’d go CF over OR purely because it’s cheaper and higher upload, although it’s largely based on the same technology.

Cf Vodafone gf 500/500 here.

For any one that has had issues was they resolved or still on going?

A see a lot of negative reviews at other places about the Vodafone on CityFibre network which is for some people the only ISP offering service (ofcom should never have allowed this)

I'm tempted by the deal prices but all the negatives reviews very off putting and the issues end up being big ones with Vodafone customer services appearing useless (dealing with VM I thought was bad this sounds worse)

Vodafone have exclusivity for a limited time. 12 months IIRC. Given that they pay for the installation, this is only fair.
