City Fibre

Anyone know if you can buy a longer power cable for the cityfibre ONT? Looks like a standard 12v or 5v barrell connection thing but not 100% sure.

Put my cancellation request in with Giganet today, going to switch to No One as for the same speed they have a offer on that is £10 cheaper a month.

My cityfibre sign up page has gone from 6 ISPs back to Vodafone only :mad::mad:

Really hoping it's just a bug but I contacted one of the ISPs and they confirmed with CF they can't provide a connection. No reason given ofc

I had No One installed yesterday. The Cityfibre guys were excellent and done a fantastic job.

Router seems solid and speeds have been just under 900megs up and down, much different to Virgin :)

Hi all :)

So I currently have BT Fiber 900/120, @£57pm. contract comes to and end in November.

I'm also lucky I have City Fiber here as well, I've had calls from Giganet who have offered me 900/900 @£39pm
I can see I can have No One 900/900 @£39pm.

Out of interest how is the City Fiber lines? Also any experience with Giganet or No One?
Also have the option of Zen 900/900 @£40pm

No One do 900/900 for £29.99 on a 24 month contract. 8 days until I get it installed.
Just do this. Don’t think about it.

Have been really happy with No One.

It went down once, late on a Sunday I think it was, and was fixed in an hour or so. Easily tracked on their status page.

Support have always been great and haven’t ever had an issue with speed/throttling etc. Equally as good as my BT connection with more flexibility and cheaper.

I think I’m right in saying sometimes ISPs sign an exclusivity deal with CF for a set period of time when they go live.

Or, sometimes it’s due to network capacity in an area for each ISP.

I don’t think there’s exclusivity deals any more, but each ISP needs to have a link into each Cityfibre fibre exchange before the services can be provided. There’s the National Access product that ISPs can use if they don’t have FEX presence but it’s relatively expensive.

When City Fibre did the install on our street they put the line in on the pavement opposite our house and skipped digging the road upon our side. So we have no Toby box outside the house, the green box is just down the road on our side however. I can order fibre now so it must be possible but does anyone know how they would do the install given that we have no Toby box on the pavement outside?

I had No One installed yesterday. My WiFi speeds from their router is more than half I got from Virgin Media and this can also be right close to the No One router.

Via ethernet I get nearly the 900mbps but WiFi not so fast.

Any tips at all please.

when are they available from? I know I can't get the 2.5gb version but don't see the 1.2gb listed either?

On a side note.... It's that time of year for the annual renewal for my internet! I have been pretty happy with Giganet over the last year very consistent speeds over 900meg up and down, but as primarily gamers in this house I can't help thinking maybe another supplier would have better latency, not that Giganets is bad but always looking for better, especially to the German servers I play on. I understand the Giganet use CGNAT and that can affect gaming??? Almost tempted with BT business 900meg for £44 a month.
There is an ISP actually quite local to me called Vfast on the Cityfibre network, is there any advantage going with a more local ISP or does it make no difference?

It's weird cause the 1 year exclusivity expired in May, and all my neighbours have the full suite of ISPs available. Gonna push one of the 5 non vodafone ISPs to chase cityfibre as to why this is as they're losing a customer.

Rather large p*** take from vodafone:

Ordered via the web at £46 a month, then got a leaflet a week later after getting back from holiday saying i could get the same thing for £29.
Great, i'll contact and get the price adjusted as it hasn't going live or been installed yet.
No, first order must be cancelled, second order put in at new price.
Don't hear anything at all and comms/dates for first order are still going ahead with city fibre
City fibre come and install, i've had no equiptment from vodafone.
Check both order numbers and both are showing as cancelled..
Contact them again and they said they're sorry so they put in 3rd order.
All the above would be fine but on the first order I had a number port, and they contacted my current isp to terminate service. So i lost internet the day City fibre came and did the install.
Been running on LTE using my work sim in an old phone to power the house network via dual wan.
Contacted today to ask vodafone for an unlimited sim as work are probably not going to like 300GB on their shared plan.
Somehow, they found the account from the original order, and saw service is live? So i asked for the PPPoE details and put it into my router and it works..? but both those orders were cancelled and i still have a pending order that is pending City fibre install visit and kit... Not had a bill yet so no idea what i'm being billed, can't log into any accounts of theirs to see anything.

Oh and to top it all off, i'm being routed to Edinburgh from Sheffield, so i've gone from full g.fast speeds and 8-9ms ping to fibre speeds with 16ms ping. Needless to say i'm cancelling this garbage even though its cheap and getting something else.
