City Fibre

I hope you have a very different experience to the rest of us, I really wanted Yayzi to work out, but sadly the same mistakes keep being made and 'we're sorry and we are learning from it' doesn't sound so great when the same issues are repeated multiple times.
sounds like I need to reconsider and possibly just stick to BT 900/110

Has anybody heard any rumours of CityFibre breaking a load of their Nokia XGS-PON ONTs overnight?
Seems more than a rumour now.

Happened same day CF fixed an issue on my service, my peak time latency is perfect again now. :)

I've finally given my notice to Virgin Media (HFC), and I have placed an order for CityFibre via IDNet. Really hoping the install goes smoothly as they will need to bring a cable to my house via the overhead. I will request that they use an existing hole where I have removed an old phone line and socket.

let me know what theyre like plz i'm tempted to migrate to them

I will do. I was trying to decide between Lit Fibre and IDNet, both look very good and it was close for me, both also have excellent customer service feedback. However, IDNet offering 12 month contracts was a positive. Also, I have already engaged with their tech-support via phone and email who were very helpful and confirmed that I would be on the CityFibre backhaul. Once you add a static IP to Lit Fibre's 1000 Mbps package it's only £3 less than IDNet's 1200 package which has a shorter 12 month contract available. Granted IDNet don't provide a router unless you also go for a 24mo contract (which is the same monthly price as the 12mo).

900-1000 Mbps:
Lit Fibre £40 for 1000 Mbps + £5 for static IP, 24mo contract, router provided = £45 (Lit offer £42 on an 18mo contract too)
IDNet £40 for 900 Mbps + £0 for static IP, 12mo contract, no router (router provided if selecting 24mo contract) = £40

1200 Mbps:
Lit Fibre = N/A
IDNet = £48 (12mo contract without router or 24mo contract with)

I plan to use my own router - not sure which yet though.

I briefly looked at Vodafone too, however it seems that there can be latency issues when load balancing takes place.

LOL I had issues with Yayzi, they're awful and ended up not connecting me and blaming CityFibre.

I placed an order with Aquiss instead and phoned them to explain what Yayzi had told me (something about CF refusing due to a blockage)...
Aquiss were great and within 2 weeks CityFibre came and cleared the blockage in the under-road trunking and the following week I was connected.

My BT ping was around 5ms and my CF ping is about the same, sometimes lower. I have 2gb/1gb and it's amazing :D
I was hesitant at first, so kept a very cheap, low tier, EE fibre package as a backup in case CF were not as reliable. But I never needed it and would actually say the CF network has been more reliable. I've not had any strange, random, disconnects like I would sometimes get with BT.

Last year on Cityfibre I went A&A > Yayzi > Aquiss and am now in my happy place. A&A were solid but a bit spendy and didn't do multigig at the time so was tempted to Yayzi, they weren't for me whic hwas sad, Aquiss has been solid and is reasonabley priced especially the first 12 months with the first 3 months half price. Not needed to contact support yet but only hear good things, I'll be here for a while I reocn.

Just waiting for Cityfibre to upgrade us to XGS-PON, hopefully they get it done sooner rather than later.

Congrats of getting rid of VM, How was the phone call, was it easy enough to do? Ddo you speak to retentions or the 1st person on the line? I plan to cancel my Vm service this week.

No issues on Toob, its been working fine past few days. I've rebooted the ONT & router today and still good. Toob really need to improve their status page, but then this all falls back to CF infrastructure

You can do it via Live Chat, took me about 30 minutes or so, maybe not even that.

Just use another CF ISP? There's plenty that aren't having Yayzi's issues.
I mean, if you ignore the multiple recent national issues that affected everyone, every few months, then you'd clearly be in denial, bordering on delusional, but I suppose you could say that.

I've had more 'fixed' IP's in 12 months with Yayzi than 5 years with VM, multiple geolocation issue including the US and continental Africa, beta testing the mobile side has been fun, especially when they have demerged billing systems and staff don't action requests to change payment providers on both services and just do one, they 38hrs offline a few months ago was fun, that was migration related, the promised speed limiting of 250Mbit that was more like 25Mbit if you were lucky, or the migration before that, or the one before that. Funny thing is they were national issues, affected everyone at one point and unfortunately left anyone with even the slightest clue how a CF ISP operates scratching their head and wondering how the actual duck they managed to get it so wrong. The DHCP server reboot's, messed up subnet routing and general inability to plan and communicate actions in reasonable time or carry them out at appropriate times is also frankly unbelievable. I say that having worked for one of the UK's larger ISP's, been involved in pre-migration planning/testing, planned additional resources to deal with increased customer calls and seen what is going right/wrong looks like. Nobody gets it wrong this consistently who is remotely competent and learning from each issue and improving, it's not like tossing a coin, and you get heads ten times in a row, this is more like the coin balances perfectly on it's edge ten times in a row while rainbow unicorns dance round it, shooting stars out of parts unknown.

I’ve been with IDNet since August and literally haven’t had any issues or downtime at all and considering we use Sky Stream I’d definitely have complaints from family if there had been any issues.

I’ve also had zero IP or geolocation issues. So not sure how national the issues are.

Humble pie time  I missed the 's and read that as 'There's plenty of people that aren't having Yayzi issues.'

My apologies!

Hi everyone

I have given the Zyxel DX3301-T0 router that I got with no one a chance but the wi-fi seems to be lacking in a few areas of the house. The wife personally doesn't want any extenders/boosters in any of the few sockets we have so it looks like I may just need to buy a different router. Now I have been looking at the Flint 2 for a while it would be good to have the 2.5GB wan/lan for any future upgrades but my question is would I noticed any difference using the flint over the zyxel with the wi-fi!!.

(just in case anyone ask what kind of problems I am having)
The main issues are with the 2 firestick 4k max I have tried both on different channels changing on the stick and creating a separate guest network on the router but the connection is dropping off all the time. The router is in the back bedroom and one of the firesticks is right underneath in the kitchen, the other is in the living room so not much blocking the signal. I can get over 300mb down on my Poco x3 and decent speeds on other devices, so it's either a firestick issue or the zyxel just doesn't like the firesticks.

All things being equal, replacing one router operating at the legally permissible power level with another doing the same isn't generally going to result in significantly different results. You do get some differences in chipsets/implementation, or from for example generational upgrades, but you're better off solving a wifi coverage issue with better coverage, and that either looks like an appropriate number of AP's or mesh nodes. Your router appears to support one of the mesh standards (EasyMesh), so that's an option. Personally I would just throw Deco's in as they're generally inexpensive, fire and forget, but if your wife genuinely wants to live in the connectivity dark ages, that needs addressing first. Sadly FTV Sticks tend to be shoved behind big RF shielded screens and walls, you can see why that won't work. The other option is extending it, or running a cable to it and buying the USB network adapter for it.

Just moved home, we are with Vodafone. Previously we were on openreach and now on CityFibre.

Can’t say we’ve noticed any difference even though the service is now symmetrical 2200/2200.
