Civilization V

Have come back to Civ for BNW after about a year break.

Im steadily losing my 1st game back...playing as Byzantium. Religion is going well but, Greece bought up all the city states and used the new World Congress to embargo me!

I now can't make enough money to buy votes to repeal the embargo :(

Am I stuffed?

Is this pushing me into a domination strategy, since I can't seem to be able to do anything else?

Lots of new stuff to learn!!

Is there a list of what they changed in the new expansion?

I don't mean the new features, rather any balance changes. I've noticed the pace at which I work through the tech tree has been vastly reduced.

Yes, massive list of changes and differences here.

Nothing wrong with restarting to be honest. It took me a while to get back into the game after a month or two break (waiting for the expansion) then having to learn all the new stuff again. I think I played about 10 half-games until I finally finished one.

So my screenshots been put in Kokatu & Reddit, I only uploaded it to put it on here and show a few people I know on Steam. Kinda escalated quickly...

First time I've seen this before

Heard it can happen, but never seen it :)

Just playing my first game since the expansion and not terribly happy with ideology. I picked freedom but ended up with massive unhappiness as my people wanted to switch to order, which as far as I can understand is due to influence from other nations who picked order. Very frustrating, had to switch in the end.

You've just lost the cold war, my friend :p

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the AI when it comes to naval warfare and invading across the ocean? I really want to play an archipelago map but in the vanilla civ 5 the AI would never move units across the ocean.

I got the gold upgrade pack on the steam sale (only for g&ks really). Since then I'm having a number of issues.

The launcher wont let me pick DX11 even though it used to, so i have to start the game from a shortcut now.

Citys are porting around the map in Multiplayer, games crashing and anygame loaded back in just locks up.

Single player games where it just keeps randomly next turning for 20 turns.

I think im going to have to unsub all my mods and maybe reinstall to make sure its clear because its just crazy right now.

Whats the best way to play a MP game of me and a freind agaisnt the AI for training?

flibby how do you get that condensed score list on the right side?
Also what am I looking for in the above? :)

Must say I'm also a little lost.

I do like the huge line-up of two big nations... let the religious war commence!

Sorry, should have mentioned - the Ife City-State has captured and puppeted Persia's city on the coast :p

For the score list, I believe it's "Single Player Score List" in the gameplay options but can't say for certain until I get home.

I dislike it because it makes no sense for civilians of a totalitarian nation, be that order or autocracy, to be engaged in civil unrest because they aren't having their freedoms suppressed enough. I made a post on CivFan to the Communitas mod group in the hope that they will deal with the situation. I think causing unrest should be a 3rd tier tenet of the Freedom ideology, causing unrest in Order and Autocracy civs, not the other way around.

I played a game as Britain on the YnAEMP map (King, Marathon) recently and saw numerous naval invasions, so I would say yes tentatively. It clearly does it much more often, but as to whether it's any good at it, remains to be seen.

i picked up civ V in the steam sale, ive been playing it today and have done almost 70 turns.

nothing has happened. ive done some research and made a farm and a mine and 1 other city.
