Civilization V

There are still some things that really annoy me in Civ5. Like unit selection; I'll click a unit at the start of a turn, start giving it orders and suddenly the game auto selects a different unit. Frustrating.

This. The game is so utterly stupid when it comes to unit management and I can't believe it hasn't been addressed already.

It should deal with all the critical stuff first. Not drag me across the globe to deal with a worker when I'm in the middle of coordinating an invasion

This gets really irritating in late games when you have dozens of units and multiple wars going on.

I tried taking autoselect off but its buggy and kept auto locking on on the last unit I build

Oh well at least they saved the previous settings you use when creating a game.

Also your comments are true but believe it or not, its to your benefit that the game lets you select units, each move in the game does really count. And if you don't want to use a unit for awhile put it o fortify.

Smokey has kind of summed it up.

It's not that I mind the game selecting my units for me, but the above is kind of annoying. When you've got a group of units clustered around an enemy city you're trying to take, they are usually your priority. But at the beginning of a turn, sometimes you click one then just as you're about to order it to attack, the game drags you halfway across the map to select a unit that's just finished building, or an idle worker, or similar.

It's only a small thing but it can be irritating with lots of units to manage. It would be less jarring if the game selected units based on where you were looking then switched to others in the vicinity first.

Anyway, G&K/BNW should be installed now. So I'm going to go try it out. See you in a few days :D

so i have nearly finished my first play through..i like archipelago as i love ships etc

it is lacking a lot compared to 4 but war is more tactical

im also considering an expansion.. am i right in thinking relgion is absent without an expansion?

Yes G&K brought religion

Game (social policy and trading) gets a pretty radical overhaul with brave new world.

Its better than vanilla by miles.

So what level do you guys play on?

I find any all up-to Prince are really easy with the extra resource happiness bonuses,
I find King is the best for me so far not being the greatest player :P
Emperor just seems mega extreme

Yeah King for me also. Tried moving up a level a few times but I can't keep up :D. AI were flying the aircraft around and I was always several techs behind. No fair.

Started a new game of G&K yesterday, haven't done a proper play through with this expansion yet, still not willing to fork out £15 for a DLC yet! Waiting for christmas sale, might come down to £6~ for a day special I'm hoping.

Playing as Napoleon and quite liking the massive amount of culture in the early game. As my religion I think I picked something that gives quicker border expansion (can't quite remember). Still haven't figured out what exactly religion will get me in the later game, planning to spread it to my heathen spanish neighbours though as they worship some sort of crazy stone circle.

Yep my steam just patched the game now, Hope my save game works ok or I will have to start out again, only about 30 turns in so not a big problem.

Multi-player saves won't work, apparently, but SP save work fine. Which is good, as I was 140 turns into a Spain game where I found King Solomon's Mines on turn 5 and had already genocided every other civ on my continent. Time to tech for Artillery and send enough Tercios across the ocean to take out everyone else simultaneously if required - Babylon and the Celts won't be a problem, but Songhai and the Turks are just hitting their own peak.

im guessing this is cpu dependent mainly?
im finding time between turns is racking up on large world

if so i will put the OC on my 920

just got BNW for bargain price as in the deals thread

£9
