Civilization V

your gfx looks awesome too mine yet mine are all on high? maybe thats DX11?
I was just thinking the same thing - I'm running it on high, with everything maxxed except AA....might that be the difference? Cos the graphics in that screenshot look a lot better defined than what I'm looking at right now on my main monitor (which is another thing I like about this game - the fact you can swap monitors with no ill effects!).

edit: have now ramped AA up to x8 to see how it looks and....well, **** me but I decided to have a look through my monitor settings and I found a number of preset themes and I put the games one on and......it looks much better (with a little contrast tweak too). Now I feel dense :D

Grr was successfully pursuing a military campaign to wipe out the indians and the Egyptians rammed me from behind and promptly captured most of the cities I had taken from the Indians

mine were all on high, i didnt have detailed zoom on though and already had x8 AA

i turned on smaller interface now though :D

cant wait for a decent new GFX card to come out.... 480GTX is to slow to upgrade to

But thats the inherent catch 22. You cant be building GS buildings AND military units, well you could but then thats not "tech-rushing" since you will be devoting some of your cities to churning out military units?

I.e. your opponents have a much more military established prescence albeit lower down the tech tiers.

You see what Im getting at?

Um, actually you can. You only build GS buildings in your capital, all your other cities can build units if you need. A GS farm works by having every possible GS point put in a single city, with as many multipliers as possible, and Babylon gets an extra 100%.

Also, with Babylon you only need a few bowmen to defend yourself from just about any attack. I've still not had an AI attack me yet that I couldnt completely thwart with just 2 or 3 bowmen, and then after a few turns they surrender and give me all their gold.

Babylon is overpowered in all all regards against the AI.

Never really played any of the civ series. Is this better the 4?

From reading around there are lots of people saying it's a dumbed down 4 with pretty graphics. Any comment?

In my opinion its not better than 4, then again in my opinion 4 isnt better than 5. They are just different is all. The important thing is that I am finding it fun to play, which is all I ask of a game.

At uni with a laptop, with no sound as its broke.

Have to wait till i go home to play this :(

Just finished my 1st game and really im completely gutted.

The games been dumbed down far too much
I have graphic corruption on the giant killer robot haha!
changes for the better are outnumbered by dumbing down
Move to orders are just broken half my stuff never gets there. especially shipping
I despise the way all units are now able to cross water - yet to see an enemy try it though.

I will play it again to win on a space race, culture or UN win or at least try to.

hope there are some patches soon.
