Civilization V

Did anyone order from Amazon and get their copy today?

Mine was posted yesterday with extra paid for next day and its not here. I sent an email asking for a refund of the delivery charge, but dont think I'll get that :(

So I bought gods and kings. Made a giant world map with correct spawn points and off I went. Got into the game, selected mods and BOOM crash. So now I am reinstalling the game and trying to get it to work.

Thats why I opted for the free delivery. I had this happen to me once with Amazon. Would have liked to played the game over the weekend but I want to play some SWTOR....

Civ V can wait till next week :)

Didn't get my pre-order today the ****s, but a mate has let me play on his steam.

been playing for a couple of hours. The Jury is still out.

Lots and lots has changed and been tweaked. My beloved build/tech rush no longer works due to changed with wonders and no more golden ages from most great people. :(

overall its good... lots of new units Full set for each era inc tanks and tri planes !! ;p

Its a whole new game - loads of new bits to learn... :)

Amazon refunded me £2.03 for the next day delivery, so hopefully it should still be here by monday. If not report it missing and get it for free

(Assuming that it was sent by RM unrecorded first class, they can reimburse Amazon for being bad).

I also ordered 3 Kg of Haribo giant cola bottles on supersaver delivery, and they sent that out via tracked delivery due for tuesday! I dont get Amazon.

Played all day managed to make into the future setting (nukes and big robots) and i have to say its really fun. The religion is quite good fun especially converting christian provinces to islamic ones:p You get faith points that let you improve your religion or you can spend it on other stuff like buying great people (scientist, generals etc). Then theres the espinage nothing too fancy except from what i can tell is you can pinch other players research, just dont get caught.
The ai does seem improved by quite a lot, like for instance i was friends with america through most of the game. They were next to me and they knew i wasnt a threat with my samll army but i was very popular with the spanish who sat next to america. So instead of attacking they rushed there research and tried to win through to the space race. I couldnt do much about it so i had to build up an army very quickly and try and take them, but it was too late they won the game:mad::D

Also when you automate your warriors or scouts to scan the map for you. If a ruins appears, they always go get it. So thats a nice improvement not having to babysit them anymore.

They nerfed Babylon even more lol.

An extra tech or two added to get to the Porcelain Tower, and bulbing is just ... what the ... I dont even!

You get tech equal to the average of your last 6 turns of research from a GS bulb now ... Weak!

Cool, I just got my copy :D

Looking through the new Civs, one funny thing I saw was Swedens UA - I wouldnt want to ever waste GPs on city states, but I want that +10% GP generation ... oh right, play as Sejong and have Sweden in my game and declare friendship for the bonus lol.

That is just silly, Sweden is like a buff to anyone else trying to run a specialist economy. I'm going to play the Celts first for their immediate Faith bonus to try out the new religious stuff. Hmmm, or Theodora, she gets an extra bonus belief.

The Celts UU + UB are hugely powerful, combat bonus outside friendly territory and faith generated on each kill, and +3 happiness from the Ceilidh Hall makes it one of, if not the strongest unique building in the game.

3 flood plain wheats and 3 fish for one city omg :D ... And a new Salt tile ... that thing is amazing, 3 food, 2 production, 2 gold, +4 happiness.

Gahhhh! Feel in the mood for some Civ 5. However it keeps crashing.

Not played for months and steam said it needed to 'convert' some files, which it did. And then proceeded to download a few extras.

But upon launch I get "Sid Meier's Civilization V has stopped working..."

I verify the files. Get the same problem.

Edit: But just discovered this is only with DX10/11 mode. I'll try a different driver version.

Aside from a crash in the diplomacy screen, civ 5 has been solid since release for me.
Turn down diplomacy/leader screen details.

Aside from that, dx11 all maxed, runs fine, albeit slow on my laptop with mobile ATI 5470 ( all maxed except AA and leader thing, 20-25 fps but playable) and nice and smooth in my pc with GTX570...

I quite like the religion add-on, nearly finished my first gods n kings game now.
