I think most of us had that problem :D

Overall, one of the best nights of english football.

If it's alright with you, British football :P

There was a pub full of us up here cheering Liverpool on, and delerious when Liverpool got that third goal in on the rebound.

I almost turned it off at half-time

I actually did leave the football viewing at half time. Went off to do some of the housework

Incredibly, the missus continued to watch the game, rooting for Milan to win. Only to put one over on a mutual friend of ours thats Liverpool mad. She knew that a Liverpool win would only bring weeks of gloating from said friend.

I had to explain to her that its not just wanting Liverpool to win the cup (not a Liverpool fan myself) but more of wanting an English team to take the trophy home. She got it in the end.

Thankfully she didn't ask me to explain the offside rule.. :D

I have to say, liverpool supporters are some of the best in the world. I was in the uni pub earlier tonight and was rooting for them (only Greek to do so!) and in the end when you lads won, we were all in huge hugs and jumping together - awesome :) The look on some supporters' faces was just like the look on many Greek's faces back in July 2004 - sheer joy, disbelief, struggling to comprehend the magnitude of this victory.

But the atmosphere created by just 20 or so supporters - awesome, just awesome, I just had to sing along :)

As for the match itself - first half, wtf  How good was Crespo!! How crap was Traore and everyone else!! Second half - MINT!!! 6 minutes of passion and dedication and suddenly we had a game at our hands. I had visions of the cup final against Alaves again...unfortunately both sides withdrew a bit.

So on to penalties, and the atmosphere reached boiling point. I took some videos (14!) to capture the atsmophere at the penalty shootout...its quite awesome! Wish I could get them off my phone. Dudek - awesome night, held two penalties and watched one go by, the secret hero of tonight.

A great night of great European football and it proves that English football is the cornerstone of the European footballing tradition. Thank you Liverpool for a great match and a great night!

no,no,no
don't think we've ever doubted him
(til he left Didi out tonight ;) )

Couldn't believe he left Hamann out. You should definitely keep hold of him and play a three CMs in the centre as with him there you will see the best of Alonso and Gerrard who need pure DMs by their side to excel.

Do you all think Ancelloti is out of a job as he didn't even pick Inzaghi on the bench and they lost, even though it was on penalties?

According to Sky (idiots) it caused arguments prior to kickoff with both the team and the directors??

Where is the dude who supports Juve?? He may have some idea.

I've just read this thread back in full and its so funny everyone writing liverpool off at half time. LoadsaMoney certainly changed his tune come the end of the game :D.

Ok, but do you think the chairman would fire his manager in the press just minutes after losing the Cup? (You might be right, I just think he may now be 'forced' out)

I doubt it, he has won a CL and serie a in the last 3 seasons so would be a bit harsh! Even though his team do have an incredible ability of getting so over-confident that they can blow 3 goal leads and lose a match. Two seasons on the trot now in the CL.....

"Sky" "Stevie , has that sealed you staying"

"SG" "I'll be having talks soon and it's looking good "

:D

If he still wants to leave if anything I think now would be the perfect moment for him to go but I would be very suprised if he did leave.

I'm still in shock. Thinking back, who'd have thought they'd win it after they SCRAPED through the group stages against Olympiakos on goal difference.

Just a shame they can't defend it next year, a BIG shame :p :p

it bodes well for liverpool for next season because their squad still needs major surgery - if they can keep the same mentality and spirit and change a few players they can do even better dometically speaking

they have one of the best tacticians there are - he can change style of play so easily and convey it to the team

smicer had one of the best games i have seen him have - but please do not offer him another contract!

traore was diabolical in the first half - positioning poor, tactically inept etc - but second half he was great

xabi alonso for the whole game was passing so well - through a strong ac midfield

ironically the fact that milan were 3-0 up was too great a lead - had they gone in at 2-0 they would have pushed for more - but the break came at the right time and there you go.

i don't know how seedorf has won the cup so many time - he is ok buit not worldclass or anywhere near to it

kaka was great - pirlo was ineffective really in a game where he wasn't really singled out to be stopped.

i am not sure if gattuso made that much contact on gerrard - he always goes down too easily in my opnion - if it was a pen then gattuso should have been sent off.

I agree, but some of these foreign chairmen, well, they are not known for their leniency, especially in the big games....

What a freakin' game.

OMG i am a Newcastle fan and i was routing for 'pool at the start. What a fantastic game. Best game i have ever seen or likely to see.

I can't believe it. Gerrard and Carragher played outstandingly in the second half.

Even my GF who doesnt like football was at the edge of her seat. She didn't want to miss one minute.

Well done lads, well done. *claps*
