Clarification on a Ladbrokes football bet?

The guy who served me, wont get into any trouble, as he cleared it with head office first. He then placed it under his system as a 'discretionary payout', so nothing was changed on the system. The only other thing I had to do was fill out a white form that he gave me, with my name address and signiture, along with him having to fill out a section for my ID, along with taking down my drivers license ID number, as there was a section for this too. Then, I got my money. That is all.

That will be to keep a record to make sure that you're not trying to consistently pull a fast-one I'd imagine. If the bet looks legit, and the customer is unknown for being a fraudster and staff believe they are genuine, it would've helped his cause. Chances are, the manager called up on the off chance they might pay you out seeing as 80% of business tends to come from 20% of the customer-base, it makes sense to try and keep you happy. Likewise, people do tend to have a bad habit of putting the money they win back over the counter soon enough anyway.

Don't expect to be so lucky next time. When you're ambiguous with your bets, you might know what you wanted, but you need to remember the staff are getting it from both ends (customers and security/head-office) and a slight misunderstanding of a bet can cause a lot of headaches. For your own sake, and save to keep any genuinely decent staff members from getting into trouble for trying to help you out; be clearer on what you want in future.

Honestly, if you'd have come and complained to me with that bet, I would've politely told you tough and refused to pay you and pointed to the rules poster. You may have believed you were right, but the bookies are the ones that hold the cards I'm afraid. The most I would've done for you is refunded your stake and that's only if you weren't being an asshat yourself.
