Are you spacking out?

No, I am trying to explain to you something everyone else seem to understand, but you.

:p

For me, someone who was over weight in April of this year I realised that I really needed to start to do some exercise but I also realised that being 21.5 stone it wasn't something I was going to be able to do lots of instantly. My method was to start small but do it everyday so I decided to do a 10 min run everyday. Everyday was the key though, rain or shine I decided that I would do it because if you can't spare 10 mins a day then something is seriously wrong.

Initially I wasn't to worried about diet although I started to use myfitnesspal to monitor what was passing my lips and log my exercise. Quite soon the diet sorted itself out and the exercise amount rocketed.

Where am I now? I've lost 90lbs since April 6th 2012, I weigh 15.5 stone, 34" waist and running 20 miles a week that includes at least a 10k, I bike 25 miles a week and swim on a weekend. I don't consider anything I did particularly difficult either as exercise supports diet, diet supports exercise and allows you to pretty much eat anything.

My advice start small so you don't become overawed by the task and its actually quite easy.

No one else has commented, aside from Nitefly... who agreed with me re: sugar in ice cream. NB you talked about having Ben and Jerrys... and saying a quarter of a tub would be okay/what you'd have... that would have a considerable amount of sugar in it.

You sound like a broken record and keep forgetting I told OP to cut out junk food totally !

I think I have said that at least 3 times to you alone, is that not getting through, or are you going to keep picking on that 1 post about the ice cream.

Yes I eat ice cream, but I don't wear 44" jeans, nor do I eat the whole tub. I eat it in moderation.

BTW, I had gone through similar thing to what OP has gone through, I had 36" jeans once upon a time, now 30" and it stayed that way and still eat what I want. I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

You're completely missing the point, through your spackout :o.

Whatever Moses. Now can we stop derailing the thread or do you have anything constructive to say to the OP with regard to his problems?

Or do you want to keep going back to the sugar/ice cream/missing my :p smilie in my first post in this thread again?

^^ He never said he eats pies.

p.s. you disappoint me Moses, not only you don't have a sense of humour by not getting my first post as a joke (this is GD after all), then you refused to acknowledge the rest of my posts to help OP and keep picking on that one point and keep arguing over the most insignificant thing.

I expected better from you.

Yeah you have to want to do it, lots of people think they should, they fail

Protein turns off appetite

I'll tell you how to do it, every 3 weeks give up one bad food. so for the 1st week give up eating white bread and start eating rye bread, 3 weeks later give up bear etc.. stop eating foods that contain added sugar.
After a while you'll forget about those foods.
If you try to give all up in one go you'll never do it, once you start losing weight then you can take up a sport

I can't. It's like an illness. I think I will be dead by 40 at this rate. I just can't stop, I have nothing in my life apart from work and food.

There's nothing wrong with that though, what type of food are you eating? Also, you need to do some exercise whether or not your eating a lot.

Well, I thought I'd weigh in on this.

I put on a load of weight and have since lost almost 3 stone this year. I did not stop eating out, I did not stop drinking (plenty of beer included).

How?

2 scrambled eggs for breakfast
Black tea only/green tea

No more sandwiches. I eat sushi for lunch now.
Diet coke/ coke zero

No more pastas/risottos for dinner.
The main thing: EAT EARLY.

5 days out of 7 if you can stick to this whilst doing 3 hour and a half gym sessions plus random hour long walks and the weight comes off. You don't need to deprive yourself or make yourself miserable doing it. Frankly "dieting" or whatever else is depressing and the negative energy can bring you down thinking you can't do what you want. Because you CAN.

Drink your booze on two nights a week, stay dry the rest. That's fairly important.

Otherwise, it's not too much hassle to adjust to this. You can still cook well. You can still do whatever you want with your mates on the weekend. Just remember not to eat late, don't stuff yourself full of ****e and it's fine really.

OP: you can do it. Don't be shy of the gym or walking/running as people have far more respect for the fatty doing it than the super buff meatheads doing it.

Good luck, and remember it is possible.

Sorry but if 2 scrambled eggs before lunch is not depriving yourself then I don't know what iS
