Cobra Kai

LOL... my two friends loved it so much I was really like wtf, but I watched it because it was Karate Kid, they couldn't stop talking about it and I was hoping beyond hope that it would get better and do justice to my nostalgia. Sadly, it didn't.

First two seasons were bad but bearable and the 3rd season was utter garbage. However, because I'm a completionist I will likely watch the 4th but skip through to the cringeworthy fluff to the important plot bits.
Or you could just stop watching something that you know you won't enjoy anyway. Continuing to watch something, just to affirm what you already knew, is baffling to me. It's not like there isn't anything else to spend your time watching, or doing, instead that you might actually enjoy. Life is too short to spend it watching things you do not like, just because you started it. But it's your time, spend it not enjoying things as you will.

To be fair, I have watched shows that on reflection thought were rubbish. At the time they did offer some form of entertainment. Pretty Little Liars for example. (no I'm not a teenage girl). ;)

S3 was better then S2 IMO, S2 had more emphasis around teenagers and love triangles (maybe to get the show to appeal to a younger demographic) but S3 had more focus around Daniel/Johnny/Krease. Hopefully S3 will bring back Terry Silver!

Judging by the reaction to you lot, I think the fact that i am not a "superfan" is showing as i thought it was just alright. :p

I had to fast forward a few scenes I found a bit cringe and in general it seems to be aimed at a much younger audience...certainly easy to binge on. But i did find it a bit odd that these grown men were so obsessed with "wars" between karate clubs and especially Kreese thinking it was like Vietnam and all his kids were soldiers etc. :o

Maybeeeee I am not the right target audience but as i said, i finished it so can't have been that bad. :)

I’ve just finished watching all of the seasons back to back.
One of the best series I’ve seen. Yes the acting sucks and the fight scenes are worse than Rocky but the story & bringing back all of the original cast in the way they did was class. The final episode of season 3 was amazing.

I just finished last episode of Season 3 and my god this was one of the worst shows I have seen in a while. Acting and script are terrible, writing is dull as dishwater, even the fight choreography of what is supposed to be the big finale is laughably bad with kids visibly jumping when thrown and Larusso looking like he has borderline arthritis.

I was a MASSIVE Karate Kid fan; I watched them all more times than I can count. They got me into Karate when I was young and were a massive driver for me wanting to learn martial arts and stand up to any school bullies. They were inspirational movies for many kids. Cobra Kai is absolutely nothing like the movies. It may share some tired looking actors, but it most certainly does not have the heart or character-building and heart-warming examples of behaviour that those movies did. It is in comparison a soulless husk, largely because there is no Mayogi to act as the stalwart moral compass that glues it all together. Larusso can't even hope to fill that void in this show.

The continually escalating violence of the kids if just utterly ludicrous to the point where I am sitting here with my eyes rolling back into my head. Home invasions? Glassing each other? Smashing each other with weapons with what looks like genuine intent to kill? It's a group of braindead thugs vs a group of unlikeable braindead semi-thugs. The leads are pretty much all unlikeable and are almost all terrible actors in an awfully written and risible turd of a show. Sure, Johnny has a few funny and quotable lines but they wrote him to be so moronic that it's a wonder how he can function in everyday life. Larussos wife is god damn hot though.

Not even the nostalgia of Karate Kid could save this show for me and I really, really tried to like it. In the end, a terrible show is just a terrible show even if it does ride on the back of some of my fondest childhood memories. I bet the majority of people who love this show can't even remember the Karate Kid movies or just plain never even saw them. That's probably for the best.

The ONLY saving grace of this show is Dimitri. The guy is a legend who has provided some much needed actual comedy value and will surely go on to bigger and better things. :D
If you’re looking for serious Karate then you’re in the wrong place.

I liked it, was pretty gutted how season 3 ended wanting more. Its getting good reviews and a lot of viewers and now Season 4 (I think they did season 3/4 back to back) is something to look forward to.

I thought series 3 was just awful. I really enjoyed series 1, enjoyed parts of series 2. 3 is like Sweet Valley High and saved by the bell mixed with a bit of karate. The story was beyond ridiculous:

I mean they turn up at Daniels house and smash the place up, throwing a kid that looks about 10 through a window. It was utter garbage. I mean Miguel was paralysed and then the Asian kid is punching him in the back repeatedly.

You do realise this is not a documentary? Or trying to be anything close to real life? *sigh* It's just entertainment. And lots of fun!

Season 1 I really enjoyed. Felt like a well written and carefully considered storyline to reinvent a classic franchise and make it relevent to the modern age showing the contrast between Johnny and Daniel.

After that you get the impression the writers didn't really know where to go with the show and it turned into a bit of a soap opera back.

Finally finished it and it's probably the best thing I've seen in years.
Floods of tears of laughter when the kids start fighting.
Some great characters and perfectly bad fun acting.

Honestly 10/10

Bring on Season 4!

Im just wondering when they will play the, you’re the best music. It has to happen at some point.

One thing I’ve noticed in the first three seasons of Cobra Kai is how well the tournament fight scenes were choreographed in Karate Kid 1. Cobra Kai’s fight scenes are good, but still not up to the first films standards IMO and are often over exaggerated.

However I bloody love it and want more. It’s going to be interesting with Johnny and Daniel teaming up. Zabka is an under rated actor.

Yes, Terry Silver has to come back. I reckon he will come back into it via owning the land Larusso Autos is on.

This is why we all need some quick silver in Conbra Kai.

Id also like to see the return of LA’s bad boy, Snake. Just for the Lols.

Late coming to this series and watched all 3 seasons in a weekend - I love it - Its fun, light hearted (in the main) and is very much in keeping with the films.
Looving forward to Season 4
