COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

Buy the game, it's great and works fine for most people now!

But whatever you do get it from the rainforest or take a walk to the shops. You'll save a bomb! I've seen it for 15squids in some places :)
 
mod tools are now out :eek:


no map editior though but... it could liven up the game and bring some fun mods like paintball zombies and so on.

I like black ops and have been playing it a lot recently. I refused to buy the map packs because of their price but eventually gave in because I kept getting kicked off servers for not having them.

You are right about the spawn structure. It is ridiculous. In some maps I can keep spawning and get killed 10 times in a row purely because I spawn next to an enemy every single time.

Maps do get old. But the problem isnt that there are just too few of them, its the way they are designed. To me it looks like they have specifically aimed to put in as many camp spots as possible so you cannot clear an area on your own effectively. This annoys me, I know its a team game but I love stealthing through an area picking out enemies.
Unfortunately because there are so many camp spots covering other camp spots this is pretty much impossible unless you co ordinate with your team to check each specific area. Lets be honest, this isnt going to happen.

They destroyed my favourite gun, the MP5. Its now one of the worst guns to pick where as in most games I've played it was the best!

Hit registry is pathetic on occasion. I can shoot someone and hear the little thudding noise as I do so but they will simply look at me and one shot me... I have done extensive tweaking with maxfps and maxpackets and seta with research on both cod 4 and quake 3 but alas it makes no differes. Just shoddily coded.

There are loads of things that annoy me about this game but I cant help playing it. I'm just waiting it out for the new stuff, BF3 and MW3...

I recommend search and Destroy to you, no spawning and i personally think a better standard of player so less camping, try our our server (links below) when its full later on, add me on steam and ill get you a a slot if needed

I enjoy all the game modes. Search and destroy is "ok" but at times when I just want to kill stuff waiting after being killed gets annoying. Especially if the guy carrying the bomb camps out in the open or doesnt move the entire match.
Camping is in every game mode but obviously its more frustrating in some than others.

I think I've been on your server once, I'll make more of an effort to join it.

I usually play on HATED/ACID/DG/AoD/The Crazies. Name: Creomortis both ingame and on steam.
 
Has anyone experienced any problems with BlackOps today with the maps taking more than 5 minutes to load? Seems to play as per normal once the map loads.

I'm a little worried that something is up with my system. Explorer.exe crashed on start up, have tried a few reboots etc (explorer starts fine now) but can get BlackOps to load properly.

I imagine when loading a map it is just taking it from the HDD and storing it in RAM. So maybe something up with my HDD or RAM?

lol you could buy it retail for less than 26.99 at release, and it's always been a game that you could just add your key to steam and download it anyway.

...but I digress, don't buy it.

Mainly console players buying these so they'll keep churning them out. It's amazing to think the money black ops brought in yet they can't even do a free map pack or two.

Yup, imo its not been a good game in quite a while. Every iteration seems to be the same on rails crap as the last one, its like they don't want to try anything new as theres no point as it sells by the bucket load by name alone.

Theres no reason for them to try and innovate anything as the game would sell if it was called "Call of Duty: **** you" edition.


And seeing as console owners don't seem to be able to get enough of the map packs this milking process will continue for quite some time. Its sad that free maps for that game are as rare as hens teeth, when it was an actual pc game we got quite a bit of free content, but now its just a matter of milking ps3 and 360 players for all theyre worth and it works. :confused:
 
Has anyone noticed a pretty hefty performance decrease in this recently? I play in eyefinity at 5760x1080 in some instances its dropping to 50fps, and coming from over 100 mosta the time the game just feels like its crawling along.

First ive played it in ages and now it seems like performance is even more of a joke that it was originally. A single 6970 can handle MW2 in eyefinity with no probs, but this being the unoptomised TURD that it is struggles in some areas with 2 6970's...
