Steam is pretty good, all games should be steamworks enabled imo :P

Dont worry bud, steam is worth it.
Anyway its needed because it uses Valve Anti Cheat on the servers.. which is a steam based item!

So you haven't played any Valve games from the last six years or so? Wow.

Yes you need to use Steam, if you have the retail copy it will probably be included on the disc, otherwise it's a small download.

Steam has many benefits, including not needing the disc in the drive and automatic game patches etc.

lol you dont play many pc games do you?
steam is a very valuable piece of software and i think a lot of pc gamers (myself included) would find pc gaming a lot more difficult and generally less fun without it.

Welcome to the last 5 years of PC Gaming? Apparently you must've been in a coma to not buy a single game that needs either Steam or GFWL to play.
 
I've had a few more goes of the game today, both SP and MP. It's a pretty dreary, depressing experience TBH

I want to like it, I really do ;)
 
hopefully kinect and playstation move, will be downfall of consoles.. and this is where pc gaming will catch the wind and sail way ahead.

I've only used Steam for the last year, maybe not even that. The games i played mainly though were all Blizzard/Bullfrog games, non of which are on Steam.

Played Orange box on PS3 as my housemate already had it on that. but yeah, i can see where your coming from, i was quite annoyed when i had DoW2 and had to use that Games For Windows rubbish. But still, no need for the daft comments eh.

Just played for a bit

First opinion is that its ok........

Yes there is a lag issue, even though everyones ping looks ok

I think there is an issue with general movement being too slow, and the run key seems to stick on until you stop pressing "W" and stop moving?? Also from running to shooting seems to take an age,

Bit of dolphin diving going on because you can go straight to prone

Needs a bit of work but i think i will enjoy it, lots of unlocks and targets, contracts and stuff

Sound a bit tinny compared to BC2

For me its just MW2 with dedis, which is what i was looking for, or am i missing something??

Didn't have any connection interruptions just lag

Looking forward to playing this with the clan tonight

You see the only reason why MW2 sold so well, is becuase people thought they where buying MW1 just a new version.

Of course they broke all that was good about MW1 in MW2 and in the process lost momentum to Dice and the Battlefield series.
 
on a positive note when the game is stable it's quite fun. Fast paced and full on action. So far I'm preferring the SMGs as a lot of maps are up close and in your face.
 
Can someone give me a coherent, non rant answer of what is wrong with the multiplayer, lag issue aside?

Is it because of the new currency system? Weapon balance? Issues with the maps? Or is it just because people were expecting the main bit of the multiplayer to be vastly different to MW1, WAW, and MW2 and so are dissapointed?
 
I was 40:60 on getting this but I don't think I'll bother just yet. I'll wait for the mod tools to see if they improve it.

COD died after UO tbh :(
